Look at his opponents since Matthyse though....that was his coming out party and has thought noone since...
I was a huge fan before the Herrera fight was signed. Danny got a gift there, against a journeyman. Thing is, he shouldnt have even made that fight. He shoulda fought Provo, Peterson, anyone but Herrera. The Salka fight and Haymon signing really threw me. That fight was utter rubbish and proved Danny had lost his WILL/DESIRE?/CONFIDENCE? to win. Then, another gift vs Peterson.....I mean 2 gifts in 3 fights, and the Mathysee fight had unanswered questions as well, though tbf, Danny did rightly or wrongly, EARN the nod. But, since he's taken the fights vs Peterson, Paulie(even old, still better than Salka or Herrera, and now Guerrero.....he's slowly winning me back. Nice wya to maintain composure thru that wild Guerrero assault and slowly work his way abck into the rounds, the fight and pull it out. I had him winning 6 clearly to Guerreros 4 clearly, and the judges got it right. thumbsup:thumbsup And NEW..........:good
Nothing really impressive about the totality of his resume. The Khan, Matthysse, and maybe Peterson wins were quality in an otherwise insipid and inflated grouping of 'no-hope opponents with names.'
I'm kind of a Garcia, no way has he been successful in winning each time out and not giving rematches to clear the bs around a few of his fights. But dude will fight anyone once, so far
Danny Garcia is very exciting for boxing. People just hate him because of his dad, it's understandable. They hate him so much they had him losing to Guerrero and Peterson, LMFAO. The only fight Garcia legitimately lost was the Herrera fight, and that was when his body was still damaged and soft from the Matthyse war. He impressed me last night, was beating up and landing power punches at will to Guerrero. He looks like his body has grown nice for the 147 pound division. Still think he losses to the top 5 WW's, but he proved us all wrong many times.
It was a 12 round right. Who fights a provo or another dangerous fighter after the war he had with Matthyse to establish dominance at 140? Doesn't make sense and bad match making. Danny was still recovering from the wars he had against Matthyse and Judah, his team thought Herrera would be an easy touch. He underestimated him and loss 7-5 imo. I don't Peterson won against him, he did absolutely nothing at all in the first half of the fight. Peterson beat up Danny and almost ko'd him when he started getting in second gear, but we have to judge fights in a round by round basis.
Danny is really calm and down to earth in his interviews outside the ring, his semi-sane father shouldn't be the reason for people to hate him
His Dad makes him more interesting. It's no different than the old school wrestlers who had uncharismatic mic skills and as a result were appointed "managers" who acted as their mouthpieces. I think of Angel Garcia as Danny's Jimmy Hart, Paul Bearer, Mr. Fuji. :yep
Garcia took 6 months off after the Mathysee fight. Plenty of time to recover from the war, and not have to resort to fighting a journeyman. Your'e right in that he underestimated the rugged journeyman who is the JSK of 140. Can hang rd for rd with anyone and upset anyone if they underestimate him, and that's what he did vs Garcia. Danny is a Champion, and as such, he should have defended his WBC and WBA titles vs another Champion(Provo), or even against a former Champ like Peterson. As for the Peterson fight. I had Peterson winning 11 rds. He clearly won the first 5-6 behind his jab and with his movement, countering Danny's every lunging L hook, then peppering him with 1-2s. In the second half of the fight, Yes, Peterson went on the attack....he started cashing in on his body work he did earlier in the fight and began roughing Danny up. That fight was an absolute robbery of the worst kind, and if ppl couldnt score those early rds for Peterson than Floyd should be 0-49, b/c that's what Peterson was doing, moving and countering, potshotting and peppering. As for the quoted posters score.....looks like he/she's saying that Danny won more rds clearly, since I myself had a couple rds, 5 and 12 that really coulda went either way, so in that case, worse case scenario for Garcia last night woulda been a draw. :think
