Garcia is not a spectacular fighter....he has no special effects He is one of those guys that can fly under the radar because he isn't a speed demon like Khan, a puncher like Thurman, or physically as strong as say Porter but he is a complete fighter and finds a way to win People are upset about Garcia fighting Guerrero for the vacant title, but lets be real, there have been a lot worse match ups for vacant titles and both fighters are proven in their careers, regardless of high organizations rank them. Garcia was the man at 140 and its not like this is the first time that a fighter who was champion from a lower division got a shot early on at the higher weight. This content is protected Garcia is a top ten welterweight, he has proven it now, Guerrero is no push over and he himself was a top ten ww but one loss in a divison that deep will have you get dropped. Garcia isn't even 30 yet and has an extensive resume and it ****s on a lot of beloved fighters resume. I'm not even going to name names, but you know who they are Garcia deserves a little more love, respect from some people because the kid, no matter what you say about him, will fight the best and finds a way to win whether its pretty or not good job Swift on you title win
as long as garcia does not get knocked out he is sure of a UD win even if he gets his ass whooped ala peterson/herrera
He is very predictable with his punches, the consensus says he's lost at least twice, and he is fighting B level and Journeymen level fighters lately. I tooted for him for many fights, including Maidana and Khan, but lately he has not impressed me one bit.
Garcia is not a top ten Welterweight based on wins against a shot Paulie and a shot Guerrero. He is at best a top twenty. And I think his limitations will be his undoing definitively at Welterweight, he's just too small, flatfooted, and limited in his offense against solid boxers.
Garcia gets hated for a lot of things that are out of his control. I'm a fan of his but I've been extremely disappointed the last few years.
Lets not discredit the opponents too much; Paulie is shot, Guerrero is not (although not prime either).
His competition was great (Khan, Judah, Matthysse), then he should have lost (Herrera), then it was a mixed bag (unranked Salka, Peterson in which he looked bad, shot Paulie), then it went up slightly at welterweight with a past-prime Guerrero. But it's been a while since he beat a top 15 or so P4P fighter. I just want to see him tested again against a real threat. Thurman, Brook, Porter, Bradley, Khan.
