Ur acting like beating DeGale is going to magically gain him a ton of new fans that had no idea who he is.....anyone that knows DeGale and watches him knows who ward is.......we all know who ward is......the boxing community holds ward in high regard and he's still relatively young

Why does kova want to fight ward? Because he's Andre Ward and he knows wardnis perceived as a top fighter......reason fight isn't happening is because ward wants to adjust and shake off rust ......otherwise kovalev would do it now ...and Kovalev is a pretty big star in the sport

Ward's been off and fought only Paul Smith since returning and it was on bet.....kova would take the ward fight right now

I'm not making things up, I was speaking figuratively that it'd put him back in the public spot among the boxing fandom.

 

I think the only guys who can sit out for three years and come back to top level straight away are probably Floyd, Pac and maybe Wlad back when he was the HW champ. Actually, Kovalev right now is p4p top 3 by most people's estimation, anyone can see him doing the same?

 

What do u mean by top level? Do u mean as far as getting a big fight? Or as far as -performing at their previous level?

Either way.....like I said kova would take a fight with ward right now.....and ggg floated the idea of 164 to act like he was even considering it.....and that was before smith .....

Ward gets no bigger or smaller in stature by fighting anyone at 168 right now...he is who he is.......so this idea of ward fighting some 168 fights first to make the fight bigger is ridiculous .......guy comes right back and climbs right near the top of p4p lists.......what's gonna happen he's going to earn more recognition in the boxing community?

 

Yes a big fight, unless you're massively popular you need some sort of tune up beforehand to get your recognition back and I'm not talking about the likes of Smith.

All boxing fans that count already know who ward is ...we all know and recognize his name ....that's just reality......smith ...whoever......it doesnt matter ......wards name is as big as it can get sans beating kovslev down the road .......ward came back off of almost two years of inactivity and beat no name......and still climbed to the top 5 of p4p lists and u want him to get more recognition back? Lol

The bottom line is k2 didn't want it....too risky for their brand......but u can't bring yourself to admit that

 

It's not like GGG is knocking out a heavyweight legend or anything like that. I've seen bantamweights kick the **** outta heavyweights, Idk why it's such a big deal. This era of heavyweights is still very weak, low quality, it's starting to pick up itself again after being dominant by 1 man for a decade. It took a superheavyweight in his prime to beat a past his prime Klitschko, who is most likely favored to beat everyone, even the guy who just beat him! Ward is a great 168lber, GGG should be wary of Ward, and for good reason. For me it's a 50-50 fight and future superfight. Ggg needs to unify, not underestimate Canelo or Jacobs, then take on Ward or Kov.

 

K2 doesn't have the ***** to put their guy in with ward or kovalev

I totally agree with that but I think one of the reasons for that is his inactivity.

But I'm fairly sure he could give usain bolt a run for his money in the 100m if u put a contract to fight Andre Ward in front of him

 

Cafe......his inactivity doesn't make him a risk......his skill and ability does

Ward could ko DeGale in 2 rounds and it wouldn't make ggg/ward any bigger........everyone holds ward in higher regard than degale......everyone that needs to know who ward is already does

If anything his inactivity should have made him more appealing to k2 given the potential for rust.....if they wanted that fight they should have gone right for it...., not let it sit so ward can shake off rust



His inactivity had 0 to do with it....they simply don't fancy their chances and don't wanna blow their momentum with hbo

 

Every hardcore boxing fan knows who Ward is as they should, but the casuals probably have forgotten him and it's they who buy the tickets not the hardcores. Risk comes in many ways, perhaps the risk in terms of who's the winner or loser doesn't change but what's to gain and lose does with his inactivity and that makes him an even bigger risk.

And as to why Kovalev would take the fight immediately, I think it's because his trainer Jackson is very confident Kovalev beats him and relished that fight for a long time now + he's not got many options at the moment so they'd probably take it right now.
