The minute Golovkin moves up he can never come back down. Haters/Fans won't let him!

Let's be honest the man might as well stay put at 160 until he runs completely out of options. The Canelo fight looks like it won't happen until 2017 like Oscar told us, so let's be adults and accept the reality of the business.

If Golovkin moves up to 168 to fight 1 fight it better be for a title. If he wins people will tell him to stay there and come up with the next 20 guys for him to face. If he tries to move back down even to fight Saul the politics will tear him up and make him wait again.

That is my theory on it and my last Golovkin post until he moves up to 168. My focus is The Heavy Weight Division. Praise Tyson Fury for breaking the monotony.:happy

He can come back down. Fans only wanted him to move up and fight Ward - or even Froch, because there isn't much at 160 for him to fight (but if there were in the future, fans would have no problem with him coming back down). He is continuing to fight fighters that are no better than guys he fought 2 years ago. Fans aren't completely stupid, they see that. They want Golovkin to step up his level of competition, and I think that is a reasonable request to ask. Golovkin hasn't done that, now he is starting to cop some hate.

Now we hear he might be fighting Dominic Wade, LOL. If Golovkin were to take that fight, as much as I love him, even I would probably concede he isn't interested in taking the difficult fights. In GGG we have a guy who looks the goods, on every level, but so far has declined to truly challenge himself.

I applaud you for being honest and realistic

I don't know how feasible it would have been .....on his body.....or if he lost to ward how that might kill a canelo fight...or even if he won......but I think it would have been awesome to get ward at 168 and then somehow get canelo......that would have been sweet and I would have given massive props ......

if ward is so desperate to fight ggg he should have accepted the fight at 164 just like when dawson wanted a piece of ward he moved down in weight as that was only way the fight would happen.:deal

There's no one worth moving up at 168. It's a 160 division without a GGG that's all. Degale vs Jacobs what's the difference? Badou Jack vs Billy Joe Saunders what's the difference? Same sht different color. It's not like 168 offers a world of opportunities. If WBC were true to their word they would just strip off Canelo as IBF did to Fury and GGG could unify another title and that'd be good enough for now.

He just tried to get Canelo and Billy Joe Saunders. Both said no, so IBF orders a mandatory. If he can't unify then he'll get stripped. Everyone with a belt turned him down, and you can't deny he tried to get them in the ring.

So, now he has to do the mandatory- no matter the opponent. It's not a matter of him willingly taking the fight. If no unification, he has to or gets stripped.

With that said, you can clearly see how incorrect the highlighted portion of your comment is.

If he won the IBF belt and just went straight to Wade then I'd agree, but that's not what's happening AT ALLLLLLLLL.

It's similiar to the criticism Manny got for fighting Chris Algieri, but people forget that Manny asked Mayweather, Marquez, and Khan before that fight was decided and they all turned him down.

why from all the people he beat in the amateurs? Hell both Bute and Dirrell looked better in their amateur days. Can't imagine the bad beating they'd get now.

Side note: If he fights Wade ( Haymon Fighter) and HBO approves, this negates the excuse of him not being able to fight Lara. Lara would literally be the biggest fight that he would have because he would be the only guy that he fought that has Name recognition and actual PPV marquee name.

If this fight goes to bid Haymon will out bid K2 or GGG will drop the IBF. (irony for you)

He can't put on 8 pounds- a great 8 pounds- for Ward, then drop 10 or more for Alvarez.

    That much should be obvious.

He's a natural 160 fighter. He'd do 168 for a big pay day but that's it. Seems obvious enough to me.

I'd argue the entire point of offering up Wade and not Lara is to get the IBF belt in the PBC stable without needing any of his fighters to actually fight Golovkin.

If that happens, he can make Wade-Lara, have the winner unify vs Jacobs, etc.

The best move HBO can do is call the bluff and let the fight happen. But make no mistake- Al letting Wade take that fight and leveraging his mandatory position doesn't mean he'd let Lara go on HBO.
