#3 is very true. A lot of people compare Ward's defense to Floyds. I just cant see it. But he is always talked about as if he is a defensive genius.
I had made a similar statement a few months ago and I was attacked, called a Ward hater and told I had no idea what I was talking about.:-(
I hadnt watched the fight in full. It was on the same night as 2 other cards and I elected t DVR it and then read the reports and never really watched it I watched the first 2 rounds but was losing total interest as Smith was out of shape and did nothing at all and Ward did just a little more sticking out a jab and moving as little as possible He eventually cut Smith and then started to send out nice straight right hands. But to me he was far from impressive (maybe I just hold him very high due to what we have seen) I literally had to go and watch the Kessler fight to remember what Ward actually fights like
Kovalev doesn't bring his punches back....He drops them...THEN...he brings them up.:deal Kovalev makes mistakes a-plenty He squares himself up,all the time, regardless of the opponent. That ain't beating Ward. His jab...... falls to his ba.lls like everything else he throws. Ward is going to make Kovalev pay for those mistakes. Kovalev is used to fighting guys that BLOCK punches...he's not used somebody that can SLIP punches. Ward is going to counterpunch Kovalev at will.:yep
Well Ward better think about what he's going to do once his bludgeoning begins. He's gonna get that slipping right knocked out of him. And that's if he shows up at his best.
I'm pretty sure most hardcore fans have seen every kovalev and every ward performance. True, pascals and ward are nothing alike. But, when the bigger fighter, more skilled offensively and defensively fighter that has brutal ko power in both hands with every shot in his ****nal is this lopsided, it's a very easy fight to predict the winner. The only real question , is how does kovalev want to beat him ? Pascal style or hops style ? Ward was, I can't say great truly, a real good smw going against a great lhw ? I don't like it. There's no equalizer, if ward had Kov power, he does possess enough skill if he had the type of power to blank anyone, that's the difference. So, I guess, if ward was GGG then we'd have a real fight
Won't matter who wins on 26/3/16 Andre Ward V Sullivan Barrera Kovalev beats both. [ Barrera will defeat the part timer Ward ]
