Moronic argument. Baseball was much bigger in the 40's and 50's are you trying to say the talent level back then is better then it is now? It isnt, which can be proven statistically.

Every sports athletes evolve faster and stronger then the previous generation of sportsmen, this cant be denied.

Great, so you won't be claiming that today's fighters are better then, right?

Aren't you the guy who is claiming that today's boxers are better than the older fighters?

If so. your arguement is self defeating for obvious reasons.

Not better, just better prepared and trained. Also benefit from the teachings of older boxers.

    Nothing to do with talent...

Show me evidence that sports performance have decreased over the years and given that you won't explain at least what makes boxing so different than every other sports where the theory applies, I'm waiting.

So you're telling me the HW's today are faster and stronger than the likes of Tyson? That is what you just said.

Oh? Then show me, because you really have peaked my interest now.

You argued for assesing improvement in boxers by "measuring in absolute values", and argued that without doing so we can't make the claim of contemporary boxers being inferior to their historic counterparts.

That being said, be so kind to back the above claim of modern boxers being "better prepared and trained" by using the arguement you put forth. I will wait for your "absolute values."

This should be especialy interesting, since conventional logic in boxing circles states that there is a shortage of great trainers in the sport in comparison to past eras. It will be equaly interesting given the fact that fighters with 100+ fights should fall into the well prepared category.

Given that distortion is rampant, I might as well post a disclaimer: I don't subscribe to G_Rapwhatever statements. :D

I don't under understand these guys, Floyd is a great fighter, but that does not mean he would beat Robinson, who is just too much.

Who has Floyd beaten that compares to Robinson? Everything we wanted Oscar to bring to Floyd but he couldn’t, Robinson would bring, e.g. Aggressiveness, jab, size, power, speed, body punching and stamina.

Are those not what you need to beat Floyd? Who has Floyd faced that had all these intangibles at once? A 34 year old Oscar was not it, he gassed. Robinson ain't gassing, imagine if he had Floyd on the ropes, would Robinson get discouraged? Hell no.

Robinson had more power than anybody Floyd has faced, mentally he won't quit, if he is behind on the score cards he will go for the KO, e.g. Turpin. He would chase Floyd around the ring.

If Zab Judah can hang with Floyd for 4-5 rounds before dissolving mentally, what would Robinson do? A prime Robinson did not fade, a prime Robinson was not a passive fighter, a prime Robinson was a crowd pleaser.

Floyd has skills, yes he does, but he does not beat Robinson. A peak RJJ gives Robinson a better fight than Mayweather, and I know Floyd Nut huggers don't believe Floyd would beat RJJ.

:-( Once you watch the Cotto vs Marg fight you'll have to eat some crow man. to Destroy Marg is a feat that is hard to swallow. Could cotto win? Yes...will he...styles make fights and Cotto looses this one by TKO or KO in the later rounds. Unless cotto uses his skills and legs to keep Marg off of him I find it very hard to believe that Cotto will be able to deal with the physical advatages the Marg holds. his height and reach is more than anyone Cotto has ever faced and that will be a huge factor. Cotto will make it exciting but at his own expense.

Floyd's power and Robinson's power aren't even comparable. speed YES, D Yes, But offense and POWER...GET A GRIP! There really is not comparing Floyd to Ray aside from both have great talent that is unmatched besides the very talented roy jones Jr.

Maxim won only b/c Robinson ran out of steam in some blistering heat. Other that that it was a onsided fight. Maxim was figting a guy 20 pounds lighter. He was barely able to get off...it was in short almost like the "Rope a dope" but years earlier...only that SRR power didn't carry up to Lt HW! So he was punching and punching while Maxim was eating leather, but in the end the power didn't play as a factor.....Srr just punched him self in to a heat stroke while Joe got lucky enough that Ray fatigued greatly.

To an extent you are correct....but there are tapes to prove and validate the excellence of Ray as there are for Floyd....difference is the domination that Ray had over most opponents and even those far large than he.

Floyd struggles against the best although he has never lost. We use the past to guage the future and although this is purely speculation its not in vain to express an educated and logical conclusion to an impossible question.

Just like how NO ONE will ever know how the dinasaurs became extinct! There are many therories and very educated ones that the masses believe which are done with research and studies. This is a probable arguement that has a realistic outcome.

LOL  YOu just basically described Ray as well...only Ray was a fighter who could bang as well. Floy is a pure boxer who risks very little b/c he can. Ray could have done the same but his mentality was FAR different. He was more concerned with his place in boxing and the pure aspect of competition....Money was a secondary thought until the very end of his career where money was tight, but there is little doubt that Ray was more than capable to adjust, adapt and proven time and time again VERY ELUSIVE! I don't even have to point out that Ray was very athletic as well.

Well....judging from your questions your fairly new to the sport? Given that that Ray lost 19 times yet he faught over 200 fights would be a clear indication of why he has losses.

Do you think Floyd would be undefeated with over 200 fights....realistically? That's rechtorical question.
