No official word yet that I know of.It does seem highly unlikely and that Eddie is just throwing Martins name out there to get the UK fans excited. To be fair who thought that Khan would fight Canelo-so there is a little hope, though it would be a long shot this fight with Martin takes place.AJ clearly is not ready for the "elite"-if you can call Martin that.

It's not about nuts it will come down to money and fact is if Martin wants that big fat paycheck the fight will have to be in the UK in front of a larger crowd at a time suitable for UK TV.

If Martin really wants the fight and wasn't just calling him out for name exposure he needs to realise 2 things, one he isn't the draw so will be lucky if he gets a 50/50 split or even close to it, two to get the most money the fight has to be in the UK because I doubt too many US fight fans will show up to just watch another US heavyweight get KO'ed.

I think Hearn is confident Joshua can beat Martin. That's not the point.
Once champ Joshua with all of 16 fights will be fighting only the best, and the IBF won't afford him 3 gimme defenses like Wilder "so he can develop".
Also as champ his mando by next year will be Parker!
Plus there will be unification fights being offered against "the other champs".
If he's lucky his "optional defense" will be against Haye, or Chisora.

I agree Martin isn't very good, but he can hit and team Joshua wants more money for this risk.

Joshua should thank his lucky stars. Martin did not have to pick him. And Wilder would never pick him.

If Hearn doesn't make this fight, Joshua should find another person to steer his career.

You fight Charles Martin at home. You beat him in front of tens of thousands of your adoring fans. You win the IBF Heavyweight Champion. And you become a part of heavyweight history.

    It's a no-brainer.

Boxing is a tough business. There are a lot of bad people always circling. In life, things happen. You can be hanging out with friends like Charr was and get shot by some lunatic.

If a heavyweight champion - especially one as beatable as Martin - OFFERS to come to your home turf and give you a title shot ... YOU TAKE IT.

Martin is not a prime Holmes. He's not the 60s version of Ali. Hell, he's not even Fury or Wilder.

    TAKE THE FIGHT, Joshua.

If you don't, you'll regret it for the rest of your life.

    BULL.

The IBF ratings are the worst of all the organizations. Joshua would be the favorite over EVERY BOXER they rank right now.

    ALL OF THEM.:patsch

    And that's including their champ.

    Take the fight.:good

I think he should take the fight, but if they don't inexperience will be the given reason.
I do think the IBF will be tougher than the WBC though.

As for being favored over the whole IBF top 10. Yes he will be, but the Parker fight is very dangerous. Parker is an even better offensive machine than Joshua.
Size is the only reason I'd give Joshua an edge. ATM I call it 55/45 at best.
Hearn will be forced to make a unification fight with Fury by years end (again good for us!), and if he passes that test will have to fight parker in his next fight unless Parker takes step aside money.

This is all good for us as fans, but I can see where Hearn has some concern when looking at the next 12-18 month window.
