That's great my man! You might be overweight for your height. Consult a doctor so you can find out what is wrong with your training. Also, only run 3 times a week. 5 miles a day for 5-7 days is waaay to often.

Funny, out of all the boxing gyms I've ever been in the only one that had a speed and double end bag was a predominantly boxercise focused gym.

Try walking instead of running until you get your body fat down. If you walk 4.5 miles, you burn the same amount of calories as if you ran 4.5 miles.

You're a fraud. Virgil Hunter's gym has both bags. Gleason's gym has both bags. Hell, there's video proof of Sugar Ray Robinson hitting a double end bag AND speed bag. He was the greatest of all time. Also, if you are such an expert why would you even go into a boxercise gym?

I cant be bothered dissecting people's posts on here but do yourself a favour OP and read from reliable sources on how best to train your body as there is some absolute rubbish being spoken here by people who think they are knowledgable but aren't.

If any of you have studied the respiratory system you will know that it is an inefficient way for the body to gain energy, this demonstrated when mouth to mouth resusitation is given, i.e a lot of oxygen is not absorbed by the body and is wasted on the out breath.

A recent article in the boxing news covered cardio exercises and from this I learnt that if cardio exercises are not maintained then any benefits are lost within a week of stopping the
    cardio exeercise.

In contrast mass is not lost so quickly, so by maintaining ones mass, stamina and energy are not lost just because one did not run for a week.

Whatever science you think you know is refuted by history. Fighters from the era where they fought 20 rounds and later 15 rounds ALL DID ROADWORK. I could care less the science behind it because IT WORKED. Some fighters now days do sprints and all that bs which is fine if you're fighting a couple of rounds. But over 15 rounds that wouldn't have worked. Just look at those fighters who do sprints, they are gassed out by the end of 12 rounds. They wouldn't make it to 13. Name an ATG fighter who did the routine that you keep advocating?

What you don't realize is boxing is a slow twitch muscle sport. The muscles are used repeatedly over and over again during 12 rounds.

Interestingly the muscle that is used predominately in boxing has the most fast twitch fibres of all the muscles in the Body.

You have no idea how the human body works. ALL muscles contain some form of slow twitch and fast twitch, the dominance is dependent on the muscle group. If you aren't using every muscle group when boxing then you aren't doing it right. With your and a few others logic, power-lifters would be the greatest all around athletes.

well said! in my gym, we dont have speed bags, double-end begs, we train in large hall without anything. Training is more based on boxing movement, balance, drills, sparring and conditioning. Tapping a tennis ball is one of drills, we also do a movement drills over hula hoop (placed on the floor) and stuff like that. There is only one ring, and its pretty crowdy in there.

If you are aware, ive mentioned on here, the body works all or nothing, im quite aware how it works. Also the Heart is the Highway to everything, with cardio in mind. But there is a muscle that is packed with fast twitch, and has a kinetic link throughout the body. Its just that everything else has to play catch up Now if there was a way of making the cardio work 35% more efficient we would be on a winner :D.

That has nothing to do with what you said. You originally stated that the muscle used in boxing is fast twitch which implied that some of our muscles are completely fast twitch and others are completely slow twitch. Furthermore, you also said "the muscle used in boxing" which implies that not all muscles are used in boxing. In some way each muscle group is used in boxing.

You ought to re-read his post as you are leaving out some key words.
