Anyone else ever notice how fast he is? It goes kind of unnoticed because everybody notices his power and skill. But look at his movements around the ring and how fast he can throw his punches. He can reload exceptionally fast for a guy who punches this hard. He punches and then he can bring his punch back exceptionally fast. I think his speed would be too much for Andre Ward. He's bigger, stronger, tougher and faster. Ward is the type of guy who can win a fight when he's outgunned, but this outgunned?
Kovalev can box very well. Too many people obsessed over his power because he was running through low comp (except Darnell"Deezol"Boone and that SD Krusher squeezed out.) Look at his fights with Hopkins and the 2 Pascal fights, he boxed like the ****ens. Breaks the plodder stereotype of Euro/white fighters.
I think Ward has faster hands and is deceptively strong. I don't see how you can say who is the toughest. I quess we will see if they meet in the ring.
It's tough for a stalker to really look fast, even when they are. Joe Louis wouldn't be confused for a speed demon, but it didn't stop him from being a phenomenal combo puncher.
You started of well, but finished up with pure **** so i cant tel if its troll post, Kovalev is fast(dont think anyone is deluded to think he is not) however he is not faster than Ward.
:yep Anyone who thinks he's faster than Ward needs to share whatever herbs they're smokin'. Kovalev is decently quick for his style (as IB mentioned), but he's certainly no speed demon. Even 49 year old Hopkins was faster of foot and hand. But Sergey is effective at what he does, and has a tremendous jab with great timing. His speed is pretty good, but it's absolutely absurd to suggest he's faster than Ward. :smoke
He has OK speed, he's not especially fast, but not slow either. He looks quicker than he is due to his solid technique, timing and accuracy.
I remember arguing with somebody (I think it was Manfred) before the BHop fight, I was trying to tell him Kovalev was faster than everyone seemed to think he was. And was at least as fast as Dawson and he would out box Hopkins partially due to his speed, he didn't listen.:yep Of course Hopkins being scared to let his hands go helped as well.
