No one disputes that DiBella made an offer. The Russians may be holding the threat of a pending purse bid to get that offer increased.

If it goes to bids, Wilder probably stands to make more than $10 million since he gets 70 percent as champ. I doubt he'd cry too hard over that.

Most likely, if you read the WBC rules, both sides will agree to extend the free negotiation period if they think there's a chance for a deal, which could still be worked out without a purse bid.

 

Wilder has travelled way more than Povetkin. Povetkin is the stay at home fighter here.

I would be mildly surprised if the Russians made a huge bid here. I think they are confident Alexander will win wherever the fight is held. I don't see a repeat of the Wlad bid in terms of money. We'll see. From fighting Molina, Dugaupas, and Szpilka to now dragging out this process it really does seem that Wilder's camp will only take a risky fight unless absolutely forced too. Proably why his resume is so soft.

 

Wilder definitely makes more money going to Russia, however it will be like travelling into the heart of a den of cheats. He could KO Povertkin and then the Russian drug agency he is DQ'ed because he failed the post fight drug test. Russia is famous for this. Ask Fury and that guy from Panama who beat Lebedev, Jones.
