What would a dominant win over Pavlik do for your rating of Calzaghe?

man i cant belive what im reading people actualy think calz can beat pavlik. if he were to beat him i would look at him as the pound 4 pound in the 160 div. but i doubt it i would put up big dinero if this fight were to happen. both solid fighters but pavlik is a ****en beast.

Seeing as how Pavlik is made to order for Calzaghe, it's really nothing more than a nice feather in the cap of Joe Calzaghe's career long resume.

IF PAVLIK wins however I think he shoots up the boards in terms of ATGs tremendously. He beats a guy whose more comfortable at 168, at a SEVERE styles disadvantage and a guy whose beaten the likes of Mikkel Kessler and Bernard Hopkins to name a few.

to me i would give him massive kudos, much more then jones if he fights jones everyone will expect calzaghe to win, if he fights pavlik, most the USA will expect pavlik so it would be great for him in that respect, plus in my honest opinion a pavlik fight is much more challenging

He's already knocked Byrd out in the amateurs.

..I love it.. the likes of Mikkel Kessler.. like that's the greatest win of all time.

Honestly though, it'd be a good win for Joe, but it'd be real easy to dismiss, as Pavlik would be coming up in weight, and Joe did just fight at LHW, so the weight would be an issue, right or wrong, doesn't matter, it's there.

The win would mean more for Pavlik than Joe.

IF Calzaghe should happen to win, then he would have to be undoubtedly considered the G.O.A.T.:yep :D

It would do a helluva lot more than beating 2 senior citizens in a row:deal
It wont happen though....Joe got dropped by a senior citizen that throws 20 punches a round....somehow he's going to beat a strong legit unified champion in his prime?
Very interesting idea manifested by blind nuthuggery:rasta

Comes with being ranked so high P4P, I guess. PBF could only fight one guy: Cotto.

Add another impressive notch to his resume. Personally, i'd rather Dawson to fight Tarver and Calzaghe to fight the winner, but Pavlik is a good scrap. He'd also earn Calzaghe far more kudo's than plenty of other fighters he's beaten. Say what you want about styles, but Pavlik is 10 years younger, undefeated, undisputed and coming off 3 very good wins. It means more to Calzaghe's legacy than Jones.

Good point....on that note Joe is trying to solidify his legacy without really earning it(fighting 2 senior citizens after his only legit SMW win in years) Jones and Hopkins are nothing more than names now, shells of their former selves
Joe has a serious problem if Jones won't fight him as Jones is the only one left that Joe COULD possibly beat, any top fighter at 175 walks all over him, so whats left? Pavlik 2 weight classes down, Joe may feel that Pavlik is the lesser of 2 evils in regards to power however if the fight comes off he will be proven wrong....painfully wrong:deal
