you can check the purses for all of the ufc shows if you google it. you will see that the top boxers still outshine these guys even the very best mma guys

 

I'd have thought that journeymen out a few times a month would be on decent coin, as would top contenders like the Murray's of this world?

Depends on the level of prospect, Joey Dawejko was offered 20k dollars (£14,370) to fight Pulev prior to the Wlad fight.

 

being a journeyman is a different game. not sure on purse size but it aint about getting up the rankings to be the best. fight as often as possible and dont get stopped (have to wait 28 (?) days before fighting again). just about paying the bills

I dont think any boxer turns pro to make a fortune. maybe I am naive but I still think it is about the recognition and glory, the rewards then follow. Re Olympics. Maybe for some, for others it is the chance to be the best

Look at some of the upcoming fighters (not just Olympians) how much they invest in future success. May not be millionaires but still fund trips overseas to train, nutritionists, fitness coaches, other sports science stuff etc. Even changing trainers and having live away from home (family disruption, fuel, hotel costs etc) All needs paying for but if they have confidence in their ability it is an investment that will provide a return when they get to the top.

 

I remember an article where Kevin said he bought or had enough to buy a brand new Bentley.

He's clearly earned a few quid as they are £100k+ brand new.

 

Journeyman min 500 upto anything. The shorter notice the more weight they give up more coin they earn. Only down side is getting cut or stopped result in layoff. Being stopped can b from 28 days to 45.

 

90 percent of fighters are on minimum wage quite a few don't even get paid if they can't sell tickets

 

peter buckley would have made a decent living being a lower weight class journeymen
he always went to points /fought non stop v up and coming prospects and was on every promoters speed dial.
tru pro have gloves will travel.

 

How much do you think a guy like that is worth/made?

 

fought every 2 weeks or so
then he would have been paid a lot more when he faced talents like hamed /mckenzie etc etc and he faced plenty of these.
he would have been paid more to rescue promoters with a last min replacement as well.
while its between him and the taxman i would guess he would have done something like 250k to 500k

 

Heard a rumour the British title fights are worth 36k split between fights, then tickets sales etc, not sure where I heard that from, someone in the gym??

I've always got the impression it was linked to amount of tickets somebody could shift.

like fielding vs smith, rocky seemed to be very happy with himself selling tickets on twitter
