Quigg is not a PPV fighter, he was just in what some considered a PPV fight. For example, Mayweather Vs Anybody is a PPV event, even against Berto he did good numbers, Mayweather is the attraction therefore a PPV fighter. Would Khan or Brook Vs Berto be PPV? Of course not. Same for Pacquiao, huge fan base and genuine boxing legend, a genuine PPV star. There is huge difference between PPV fights and PPV fighters, the U.K. if we are honest does not have PPV stars at this moment in time, we might have a few potential PPV fights but that's a different thing.
Cracking post 👍 Quigg will never again fight on a PPV event, that is for sure. Hearn/Sky are ripping the pi..ss out the fans with under cards like that. Sky have basically given Hearn the platform to showcase s.h.i.t.e match ups, without a thought for the genuine boxing fan, just catering for the occasional fan. It only seems that combat sports fans get ripped off, why is it boxing, ufc & I use (combat likely) wwe followers have to pay a premium to view the best in there class? It's a ****ing Liberty
Good post , although I wouldn't be so sure Quigg won't FIGHT on a PPV event again, I agree he won't headline one though (unless its a Frampton rematch somewhere along the line). What gets me is when promoters (especially Hearn) say 'this fight just couldn't happen without PPV' !! Errrr yes it could , if you offer a fighter £1m because the PPV platform is there he's going to want exactly that, if there were no PPV's and the fighter had to settle for £150k then that is what they would have to take.
Exactly! Hearn is beyond doubt, culpable of rising the stakes when it comes to making crust from average cards, in the while destroying the genuine uk based boxing fan, the whole idea of PPV. Since the return of PPV how many fights/cards have been worthy of the fee?
2 Both O2 Shows, December 12th and May 30th 2015 Maybe 3 with Froch Groves II The others haven't been Value for money at all..
You can't be for real.. So quigg was chasing this fight for how long. You honestly feel frampton would have agreed to the fight without PPV money on offer? Come on dude, get in the real world. Also isn't it a good thing that both fighters made enough money that is life changing for them. Or do you want fighters getting paid less? Isn't it Eddie Hearn's job to make sure he gets his Fighter as much money as possible.
