I want AJ to lose ....

    ... because Eddie Hearn and his SKY backers will be desperate to convince the British public that Joshua is "THE" heavyweight champion of the world. They want to diminish Tyson Fury's status because they completely misjudged Fury for years and Hennessey and the Furys have already called them out on this.

    Compare this to when Herbie Hide had the WBO title, and Lewis had the WBC (which was the case in both 1994, and in 1997-99), and SKY was the broadcaster. They were never much attempt to place Hide on an equal footing to Lewis by SKY, because they showed respect to the better, more accomplished fighter. Also, SKY wasn't in cahoots with a single promoter in those days. British boxing wasn't as powerful on the world stage either, so they couldn't attempt to fool anyone because the Yanks would call it as it is, and the Yanks didn't even recognize WBO as anything legitimate at all.

    Unfortunately most British boxing fans, and casual sports fans, are pretty much easily manipulated by what SKY tells them.

    The press conference said it all, with Hearn kept mentioning it as "THE heavyweight championship of the world", I'm not sure he even mentioned "IBF".

    Yep, it's frustrating. The amnesiac tendencies of the casual boxing fan are incredible. All they need to do is remember that Fury beat Wladimir Klitschko for his titles and go figure from there. It really shouldn't be that hard to connect the dots.

    I can see where you are coming from and Charles Martin is a nice guy, but AJ winning would set up a Fury fight , which would be good for British Boxing.

    Yeah, that's what I was thinking before.
    But hearing Hearn at the press conference keep saying "the heavyweight championship of the world" and it even seemed that AJ had been coached to say the same thing - no mention of IBF - that p!ssed me off a bit.

    Seriously, I know Fury can speak up for himself and remind the people who the real champ is, and yes it would make a great British fight .... but I'd like to see the smile knocked off of Hearn's face.

    I can see that he's probably angling for himself and Joshua to have more bargaining power than they deserve, and he might succeed, basically because I have not much faith is the SKY commentary teams. The monetary motive I can understand.

    My main issue is that it's this very thing of multiple "champions" that confuses the fans and damages the sport's credibility. And it's the broadcasters who have a duty to set the record straight. Especially with it being British fighters concerned.

    Yeah you are right there mate, if Joshua wins this fight 9/10 people who watch boxing in this country will have AJ as the ''Heavyweight champion'' when in reality he still wouldn't even be top 5.

    I think you need casuals fans else boxing on tv would not happen.

    It doesn't matter if you are a 'real' fan you know what's going on.

    Hence the over the top almost WWE like build up to these Ppv fights, kind of makes it look more entertainment than a sport

    It will be hard for Brits to say AJ is THE champ when everyone here has heard of Fury.

    Everyone knows Fury beat the MAN, and is the true champion.

    AJ, if he wins a strap, beat a man that no one has ever heard of, before he was handed that strap...

    Not really a great point for wanting Anthony Joshua to lose.

    British fans aren't stupid. They know Tyson Fury is the champ. They'll know that Anthony Joshua will be paper champion.

    SKY is an annoying broadcaster. The fact that they try to convince the British public that football began in 1992 and don't mention any older record than then.

    They'll do the same with other sports too. Tyson Fury should get more credit, but it's Tyson Furys big mouth that they don't like. Tyson fury says it the way it is or the way he sees it and cannot be controlled. Anthony Joshua can.

    I don't see the problem. If AJ gets the IBF then the unification fight with Fury is on. Sell it as 2 world champions settling things. Cast it as good guy vs bad guy (Tyson makes a brilliant pantomime villain and I'm sure he'd love that role).

    Here's the clincher ... it would make them both a freakin' fortune that they could not make from any other fight and the winner would be undisputed champ.

    For it to work AJ's belt (if he wins it) has to be promoted as fully legit, and it's in all sides' interests to make that happen.

    If Fury fans don't want AJ to beat Martin then they're cutting their nose to spite their face.

    For me AJ v Fury will be the best fight lined up in a long time.
