Páez, Jr. is keeping the match at long range, fencing with Margarito and out-jabbing him. Double and triple left hooks downstairs by Páez, Jr. while moving. Single left hooks up top by Páez, Jr., blocked on the back of Margarito's right arms, but serving their purpose, freezing Margarito so Páez, Jr. can get a few off beneath the elbows.

They clinch and do some infighting, Margarito pumping uppercuts into Páez, Jr.'s chest. Páez, Jr. is staying in close, switching to southpaw, trading bombs with Margarito. Trench warfare! Margarito's kind of fight. Bombs landed both ways at point blank.

Páez, Jr. is standing in, arms ensnared with Margarito's, slashing hooks across the stomach. Margarito responds in kind and widens some of the hooks to reach Páez, Jr.'s liver and the far end of his ribs. Uppercuts inside by Margarito, bouncing off Páez, Jr.'s chin. Output from Páez, Jr. dwindling. He flaps in a double hook, showing hand speed but the pace is favoring Margarito. Páez, Jr. lands a pair of hard shots with both hands but Margarito doesn't react.
