He would of been a good euro level boxer at best. Decent power but that chin is grade a fine china. He just relies on that straight left cross and that was getting predictable. There was a spinning back kick that never lands. The only reason he hit Diaz with so many straight over the top was probably because Diaz gave him that shot knowing he can take that shot of Conor? maybe.I wasn't sure why Diaz didn't have his hands up.Maybe to protect the body? Conor did go downstairs too. They were good body shots. But Diaz is no Brazilian who are known for their glass chins. He is a Mexican he can take a punch. And Connor can't. Connor questioned himself ..why is he not going down? And that's when the doubts crept in and boom! Diaz smashes him.
When are the UFC morons going to learn to stop comparing these bums to true sporting greats like Mayweather
Neither of them are good boxers. They are good strikers Conor wasn't big enough. Believed in his own hype a bit much. I love how people buy into fight theatrics. Its acting to generate interest and money which he is very good at. Boxers could take a lesson from him. Look at all the interest he's generated. He's a marketing machine
Yeah, it was a good fight. The size difference was simply too much. MMA weight classes are too much spaced between each others, to climb categories easily like in boxing.
When was the last time Floyd gave value for money? At least these so called hype jobs lace up and go at it, rather than prodding and dodging for 36 minutes wearing giant pillows on their hands.
Cutting 5 lbs and fighting a man his size/bigger had something to do with it....as opposed to draining off 30 pounds and having a big size advantage, and everything that comes with it, on fight night.
To be fair he's a guy who's spent the majority of his career at 145, getting tagged by Diaz (who can throw) at 170 in little gloves. Would hardly say glass chinned.
Diaz is a natural lightweight like Conor. There wasn't that massive weight difference. Nate Diaz also doesn't have powerful punches, yet McGregor was rocked easily. If he didn't become a "panic wrestler" and go for the takedown Nate Diaz would shatter that pathetic glass chin all over the octagon.
Apparently all the King Khan joking has rubbed off on the crazies where they are starting to believe the hyperbole. There is no finer glass than Khans.
Conor was almost doing Zab Judah dances all over the ring by jabs from a flabby punch-drunk pillow puncher who literally rolled off the couch from smoking weed and eating doritos. He only got submitted because the only way he knew how to protect his fragile glass mandible was to get choked out.
I just watched the fight properly. Conclusion: Conor McGregor does have a pretty weak chin. (I'm a big McGregor fan). 1. Nate Diaz is not known for having a monster punch. 2. Conor was beating Diaz up with his boxing skills - it was a gameplan that was working so well. Conor was the ring general, cut off the ring well too. 3. Nate Diaz was starting to time Conor a bit more - Conor was buzzed every single time Nate landed in the second round. And as Conor noticed he was certainly being buzzed too frequently, he out of desperation tried to takedown and consequently out-hustle Diaz on the ground and made so many major ground-errors. 4. Had Conor used the ring more to let himself recoup and maintain ring generalship, he could have started to develop a boxing-based gameplan to set up traps - Diaz certainly wouldn't have offered as much striking threat. Conor and Nate Diaz belong in the same weight class, that is for certain. Conor WILL perform better if the weigh ins were at the lightweight limit, because that would WEAKEN the fighters making the weight to a degree. Conor at Featherweight is truly Great. I have always seen him as a Nonito Donaire, though. At featherweight he was like Nonito Donaire at flyweight. Now Donaire is against guys his size, he has been getting beat and looking extremely vulnerable, too. Just because his boxing is 'a little better' than everyone elses, he thinks he's good enough to box them up...there is no intelligent gameplans behind his boxing like there are with world level boxers. He must also develop ground game a lot, too. This was almost like Naseem Hamed vs Marco Antonio Barrera outside the ring. Naseem the king of charisma and Barrera the unfazed assassin. Inside the ring it was more like Nonito Donaire vs Nicholas Walters.
