Obviously those would be great wins, especially the Ward fight. He'd get HOF entry by doing that. Regardless...

I just dont see GGG breaking out to the casual fan the way Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao did. Oscar beat a LIVING LEGEND in Chavez TWICE, gaining many mexican fans. GGG has no Chavez to fight. And Canelo is no Oscar as Oscar was to Floyd and Manny.

Canelo's inability to speak English will limit is casual star power.

Golovkin will at most, become a boxing fan's star. Cross-over star status wont happen because he's not American. And even if he was, he's too nice. Doesnt make any noise like Ronda Rousey or Mayweather.

If anything, all of the above benefit boxing fans as this means less PPVs! And cheaper fight tickets. UFC is so big now that boxing has major competiton

He's already broke out... Look at his attendance numbers.

Too nice? Tell that to his opponents! Moron.:lol:

People of all levels (causals to hardcores) love him because he doesn't talk (unlike Floyd) and delivers brutal finishes (again, unlike Floyd).

He is everything that Boxing needs right now.

His English is improving, he's knocking everybody out, his fights are never dull... He's the next big star.

Hrs already a huge star and the best fighter right now.. Spense will give him some comp for the best fighter in boxing over the next few years. Spense has more time so he'll take over the clear #1 once ggg hangs them up.

Until then, we have a great top 5, and even top 10 best fighters in a very very long time

If Golovkin becomes a breakout star, it'll only be for a short period. He's already in his mid-30's, little late in the game for him. People don't like it, but he's going to have to bend over backwards to get a big fight, otherwise he'll be like 36 or 37 before he breaks out.

He'll be the same as the Klitschkos, who have a huge fanbase in Europe. Why would he become famous in the US wihout a huge Kazakh community there? Who cares about the US?

Boxing is in a weak state at the moment in America. UFC is too blame. Charles Martin is fighting a prospect in UK. Wilder will probably fight in Russia. The strong fan base is overseas.

Conor Mcgregor has broken out. 1.2 million Twitter fans versus GGGs 175k. Ronda Rousey broke out.

Lastly, boxing ratings have been in the gutter. Crawford last fight barely hit a million views. Showtime ratings are ABYSMAL.

Long story short: boxing decline Continues. UFC partly to blame

This "Triple Duck" business is stupid, he isn't ducking anyone. At worst, I'd say he'd cherry pick Super Middleweights. But I agree on one thing, he ain't beating Ward.

Yea, there is a much heavier focus on UFC in the US.

Indeed. Boxing is very much a tribal sport.

I expect GGG to make Sergio Martinez numbers when at his financial peak, although a GGG-Canelo fight would make considerably more.

True... which is why I said he'd cherry pick Super Middleweights. And this is just MY opinion:

I think he did indeed "duck" or, at the very least, try to weaken Ward because he's more of a threat than Froch or Chaves JR (anyone who says it's because of money is lying to themselves). But the reason I don't hold it against him is because they're in separate weight classes, I'm generally more lenient in those cases.

    Make sense?

On an average fight basis GGG has surpassed Sergio. GGG averages bigger purses and double the live gates. It's the PPV where he struggles.

    GGG vs Jacobs PPV? 200k?
GGG vs Saunders in the UK
    GGG vs Degale PPV? 200k?

That's my point. Outside of Canelo who can GGG dance with ?

Sure. However you want to reason it is fine. That said, you can't go around trying to make fights @ 168 only to turn around and cry 164 when Ward comes knocking on your door and expect to get away with it. That's called a DUCK in my book. Especially considering that Team Triple Duck is on record saying they had no problems fighting 154-168.
