I know there have alway6s been mismatches - I just think too many are now avoiding each other. Much more than used to be the case.

Not really. I'd rather watch two guys who are very good at one thing do that thing than two guys who are okay at several things try to do several things. Also, wrestling is boring.

Doubt it. It would be harder if they wrestled and boxed at the same level that boxers box, but they are always so sloppy. Since they have more styles to cover they pretty much do everything at a journeyman level. Or else they have elite wrestlers who can't show off how good they are at wrestling because they also have to box.

I remember, when I used to watch UFC you'd get two elite wrestlers who decided that their best chance to beat their opponent was to outbox him; so the fight between to top level wrestlers would just be unentertaining amateur hour boxing you could see at your local bar.

They lose because they aren't really that great. The competitive level of mma is well below the competitive level of boxing. You are basically watching regional level fights, whereas in boxing you are often watching world class fights. The talent pool of boxing is 8 times as big as mma. There are only 8 weight classes in mma and 17 in boxing. If mma had 17 weight classes there would be about five fighters in each.

Exactly my point. You think all of these fighters are great because that's what you are told when in reality they are second rate athletes

The biggest problem with boxing today is re hydration rules.

Most of the champions are merely guys that are naturally 1-2 weight classes above where they're fighting.

Same day weigh in should be brought in, the fights are won and lost on the scales.

Crawford is a classic example he looks like he's 2 weight divisions bigger than his opponents come fight night.

Everyone is playing by the same rules. Same day weigh ins guys would still be cutting they would just have less time to rehydrate and you would have a much more dangerous situation

This is utter nonsense - the names you mentioned prove the OPPOSITE. Holly Holm LOST to Meisha Tate and that was because Meisha took it to the ground, she's very good there.

Conor McGregor who was a very good Irish boxing amateur lost NOT because Nate was a 'superior boxer' - Conor IS the superior boxer, but it's because he as the naturally bigger guy rocked Conor whenever he hit him, CONOR GAVE UP TRYING TO OUTBOX HIM and went for a half-assed takedown, Conor was also gassing out...and NATE DIAZ'S JIU JITSU WON THE FIGHT.

Boxing is a very good asset to have in MMA, but the quality of boxing is not as high in MMA because there are MANY OTHER VARIABLES to focus on.

Any Tom, **** and Harry can become a boxer, but the guys at UFC are usually very distinguished martial artists, who have incorporated other martial arts into their game, and have become very good at that.

Yep, though... Not everyone is playing the same game. Not everyone can take advantage of the genetic gifts. A short man with thicker bone structure cannot cut weight like a thin man with lighter bone structure. Thus tall lanky guys like Crawford can feats on midgets until he can no longer make the weight. lol look at Khan and how much he was cutting. A 140lb guy that has the frame to ahndle 154 easy.

Conor Mcgregor was NOT a very good Irish amateur boxer. I read an article from Barry Mcguigan where he mentioned Mcgregors amateur career. He said he wasn't a stand out as a boxer and won nothing at amateur level before switching to MMA

Jon Jones has never loss and beats fighters at there own game and never gets the recognition of his white counter parts. Sorry to bring up race but when people talk MMA they mention about 11 white fighters and ignore a truley dominate black one, not out of hate but lack of recognition by the company and the public. Jon Jones has never been beaten and fights everyone, but nobosy cares. If he was a boxer though?

Jon Jones is recognised by all as the best fighter today. Anderson Silva is seen as one of the very GOATs and arguably GOAT.

Race is not a problem in any sport. Sugar Ray Leonard was everyones darling at a time when race played a bigger factor.

If you're likeable, then you're likeable.

Mayweather syndrome. As long as you got your 0 doe it doesn't matter who you fight. Avoid the best competition to protect that 0, then after they are past their best then you fight them years later

Lmao Nate Diaz jiu jistu won the fight!? Conor desperately tried to shoot on Diaz because he could no longer stand toe to toe with him. Conor was going down and both of them knew it. People were calling rousey the greatest combat athlete in the world and she got destroyed by a fighter who employed a pure boxers gameplan. Holly holm getting choked out at the end of a fight doesn't change anything. You believed McGregor and rousey were elite athletes because that's what you were told. There might be a handful of UFC fighters with the athleticism to cross over into boxing. Failed boxers cross over into mixed martial arts

That means that WBC needs to change their rankings.

WBA has 6 champions that are the best in their divisions, WBC only 2 (both at very low weight divisions).

WBA is more prestigious than WBC.
