Could Cassius Clay Rope-a-Dope Tyson and live to tell about it?

Mythical Mike would have a chance, but Douglas is the template.

Ali would move, Jab, and outbox Tyson much like Holyfield did

Ali faced more similar styles of Tyson than Tyson did of Ali. Ali faired very well against them. I figure if Buster Douglas could give the business to a prime Tyson , then a prime Ali would do a better job at it than Douglas. You can talk up Tyson all you want, the man was one deminsional. Nullify that power and make him miss and before long he's shooting power shots from long distance and missing badly. Ali was faster than Douglas and Holyfield too. Tyson got whooped badly by both men. Ali stops Tyson between 8 and 11.

;) Ali would have "schooled" Tyson.

IMO Ali ranks as one of the top three heavyweights in history,

Tyson.... maybe in the top 10.

    A possibility.

Ali had one of the best chins in the history of the division, but his reflex based lean back, hands at his waist style could seriously hurt him against Tysons lightning quick, explosive hooks. He wouldn't see the shot coming and it would lay him out.

On another night, Ali might very well outbox Tyson and stop him late, especially if it goes 15. It's definitely an interesting match-up.

Spinks was never a legitimate heavyweight.
Two close decisions to an aging Larry Holmes and a KO win over a lumbering Jerry ****ey who was a one trick poney were Spinks fights at the weight.

Most people don't know that Spinks had issues with his knees and ankles late in his career. It pained Michael Spinks to make strong pivots in the ring, the results of training wearing construction boots for years before realizing they were destroying his feet and legs.

Mike Tyson's destruction of Michael Spinks is the equivalent of Miguel Cotto's destruction of a handicapped Sergio Martinez.

Ali just whipped right through Frazier didn't he? Oh wait, maybe Tyson might have a chance after all.

    Stop the mad crazy talk.

Mike Tyson's mind was so weak that Ali would have beat him even before the fight started.
See what happened to Vlad in the Fury pre-fight. He stole that from Ali and made his fight with Vlad so much easier.

Ali would have done the same thing he did to Liston to Tyson, but it probably would have been 10x more effective because Tyson had a very fragile mind.

If you think Tyson can get inside Ali's jab (hahahaha), he'll be wide open for the Ali right hand. Ali is the GOAT HW don't compare Tyson to him, it's insulting.

Ali was always vulnerable to the jab-hook combo and gazelle punches, i do believe that Tyson would have a field day with any version of Ali simply because of his bad habits of pulling back and dropping his hands constantly.

I'm Ali's biggest fan, but of all the great heavyweights I think Tyson gives him the most trouble, especially early in the fight.
The reason I say this is Tyson's hand speed. In this respect Ali was always superior to almost all of his opponents and although he posseses greater hand speed than Tyson there's not that much in it.
Especially early on Ali would need all of his ring savvy and nous to keep Tyson's quickfire and power combinations at bay.
The thing is Ali always found a way, he would probably come through the early storm and end up tying Tyson up, who's intensity tended to drop after 4 or 5 rounds.
I see Ali basically doing what he wants with a discouraged and busted up Tyson in the second half of the fight and stopping him.

Ali would beat Tyson but not by using the Rope-a-Dope. That's the wrong tactic against Tyson. Stand Tall, use the jab on the back foot and use his best attribute, his footwork, to win the fight.

If Ali did the Rope-a-Dope he has a chance of getting caught as Tyson has faster punches than Foreman. I would give Tyson a very good chance of landing something and causing damage.

Slightly incorrect, although Sufis are mainly found within the Sunni sect, or at least that's where they originated, they are seen as deviants, bordering on blasphemous with some of their strange practises.

'Mainstream' Islam is seen as practical and logical, Sufis are a totally different breed altogether.

They're like...the hippies of the muslim world?
