At the post fight interview his coach said that he brought 600 fans with him

    Has he got that right?

I thought a top prospect for their professional debut could do nearly that

Is this a Boxnation problem ie a niche TV audience meaning that supporter bases grow slower

Steve wood is his manager so 600 would be an accurate figure. But that's only the tickets that have been sold through him. I'd say their would be alot of flanagan fans who purchased direct from either FW website or the echo

I reckon he had more. I was in Block 16 it wasn't completely sold out but nearly and apart from two arl fella's next to me and two a couple of rows in front they were all Mancs. He had the block next to us and next door but one all full as well and all supporting him.
Was ****ed off really because I bought them off the arena early and got lumped in with all them. Asking for trouble really as there's no police or stewards for a hundred yards. Seemed all Derry's fans had the entire rest of arena though.

How full was the Arena? Hearn put on twitter that there was only 2500 in there? Surely there was more?

Well more. I think it holds 8-9000 and I'd guess it had about 6000 in.

4500 in the arena. Only two-three parts of the top tier were full. Even bottom tier wasnt full.

Flanagan 600 seems about right, didn't see many more than that though.

Sky's marketing does play a big part getting casual fans in. Callum Smith fight will have almost double the gate and Derry was fighting for a world title. Real shame.

strange that this guy Hearn always seems to want to belittle another promoter. Surely as a boxing promoter he must realise he can't do every card in the UK and while i wouldn't expect him to say anything positive about a rival card there is no need for the negative nonsense. If you can't support the sport that you work in just keep quiet and concentrate on your own shows/cards

    Well said:good.

It did look relatively packed on Saturday. Frank would be sensible to run shows in similar size venues for his big fights if possible.

  11. 4500 is a shocking number for a world title fight between a Manc and a Scouser. Shows how badly BN promote their fights.

To put it into perspective that was 600 more than Eddie's Birmingham show got: which when you consider that was their first time in Birmingham and the headline fight involving Boring Bradley Skeete shows what an awful job Fisheyes is doing.

Not great numbers for a domestic world title clash and a good undercard. Maybe it's just Matchroom / Sky can market events so much better. I'm going to the Kell Brook V Bizier fight in a couple of weeks. On paper the main event isn't actually jaw dropping to say the least, yet it will no doubt have about double the attendance of the Flanagan v Mathews fight - crazy really!

There definitely wasnt nearly 4,000 for the Birmingham show, and the liverpool show was between 5-6k. Hearn is full of ****

I thought about 4.000 were at the brum show

  15. Hearn said 3,900 there. Was disappointed as he expected 5-6k.

Not a chance there were more than 4,500 people at the Flanagan show. Anyone who was there will tell you that.
