Forgive my ignorance here but what is this super lightweight title, is it a new weight class, has all the boxing organisations got it? also I read somewhere that the winner of this fight has to fight the winner of broner v theopane. Maybe someone can shed some light on this. cheers in advance

cheers for that, think people are being a bit unfair on burns, hes an ex world champ who has been given another shot at a title, you are not gonna turn it down when you are bankrupt, not saying he was a brilliant world champ tho but he worked his ass off to make the most of his career, this forum seems to me full of negative ppl who have never stepped in a ring yet come on to slag the likes of khan, burns, etc

I don't think anyone is knocking him for accepting another world title shot, I think most - myself included - don't think he is deserving of one, particularly at a weight he hasn't fought at. Much the same as when Murray got a shot at Abraham.

Burns the "Scotsman" who wears an Irish tri-colour on his shorts? Hope he gets his jaw broke again.

If you ever looked up the definition for the word fraud, Ricky Burns' name would be right beneath it.

If that were true then Burns would be an example, not the definition.

Smart from Eddie, will fill out Glasgow and sell tickets. Last payday before cashing out. Smart. They can still promote Burns in the light of 'the big comeback' etc. Even if he takes a beating, it's no loss to Hearn. Will make money either way.

Either way the kid deserves respect. He is a x2 world champ and has had a decent career, been in there with some tough cookies. Kid deserved some credit.

Was that not just a rumour that got put to bed when it was proved inaccurate?

  13. Did you not see the shorts? Was half and half with the Scottish flag.

Good luck Ricky Burns - it is good to see a big event back in Scotland. It will be great for Scottish boxing and even better if he can win!
