Better fighter........Marciano or Holyfield?

Good point maybe Johnson was a bad example, although Prime Roy Jones completely shut he (Reggie) and Toney both out.
And now he can't keep from being knocked out. Point being using a 2003 loss by Evander isn't fair as he was just a shell..

Holyfield perfected the headbutt in a way that Marciano was never able to.

 

I am no Holyfield fan, but to me he seems obviously better. Bigger, quicker, more skilled, and equal in heart and chin.

 

Let's give Dino some credit here, he's got a point. I agree with this post. :good Rocky knew how to "fight short", and how to slip punches and make sure that he was the hardest possible target while steaming in.

 

Ignoring the issue of PED's you pretty much gotta pick Holyfield. The reasons have been stated numerous times on thus thread so l don't see the point in repeating them.

Both men were great, I just think that H2H Holyfield would win a close decision.

 

What a nothing comment. James Toney was not only a formidable heavyweight, but Holyfield was old and way past his prime. He was losing to everyone back then from Larry Donald to John Ruiz to Chris Byrd. All guys Holyfield would probably dust up and stop in his prime. I think anyone will acknowledge this.

Furthermore, no one would stylistically compare Toney to Marciano. Toney is quicker than Rocky and has more skills.

Prime Holyfield would bust up both Marciano and Toney. Not good match ups stylistically for those 2. Marciano gets outjabbed, beat to the punch, beat up with combinations and outmanuvered. He will land big shots occasionally but probably get stopped late. If The likes of Walcott and Moore are flooring Rocky with single shots then I have to think Holyfield can and will hurt Rocky.
