If Roy Jones Jr is lucky he will not be embarrassed tonight, its a very horrible match up. The opponent is physically capable of KTFO Roy Jones (he will have more reach/height, chin & motivation) which makes this fight a high risk & very low reward fight. Its clear that Roy Jones Jr wants to continue boxing, but he needs to have dependable people helping him out with choosing the proper opponents. RJJ seems unable to understand the consequences of losing reflexes (now he is vulnerable to longer reach opponents), if he wants to continue boxing into 50 its possible, but he needs to fight guys with good names & shorter reach. Interesting Undefeated opponents for RJJ 12-0 (KO 12) Jorge Kahwagi 41-0 (KO 40) William Bezerra 7-0 (KO 5) Mickey Rourke
I still don't know how many rounds the fight is scheduled for, and if they're going to wear head guards.
Al Haymon circa 2003 was going to help RJJ skip some humiliating losses, but RJJ 2003 still had reflexes & didn't need no annoying advisory influence :think
I'm pretty sure he regrets that. 2003 Roy was still rich. He had a record label, a chicken farm, fame...and then
Poor skills on an aging fighter who relied too much on his athleticism. Roy was a fantastic athlete but a very flawed boxer.
He has skills/knowledge from a predatory mindset, he has to use that knowledge & accept the fact that he is the hunted now, which means he needs to be matched properly. Roy Jones Jr vs William Joppy Roy Jones Jr vs Kassim Ouma Lots of winnable fights vs Former champions that can be made, that have better records & legacy than the more dangerous opponents he is facing.
Yes, but to my knowledge Phillips hasn't had one pro fight. I don't think it's an official fight. I was under the impression that exhibitions required headgear and limited rounds. I don't know what's happening. I guess we'll find out shortly.
atsch it is... how did he manage both im curious. ole roy done put the whoopin on da boyz head. he still got it..,no?thumbsup
I didn't get to watch this fight, but I was told by a half reliable source that Deontay Wilder was ringside, considering a possible showdown with the winner of this fight. Any truth to this?:think
