Why would you want a coach like that? He's 34, not a kid. Cuban...

Tbh, many Cuban boxers would take offense to that...

He obviously never met his potential. Watching the slow, robotic plodding guy last weekend, nobody would ever guess that he ever won anything in the amateurs. He had no semblance of footwork, handspeed, or timing. Let alone defense.

His defense was actually pretty solid, and you have to take into account who he was fighting

Barrera could still win a world title under a proper coach who actually knows Boxing and how to get the best out of a fighter.

Sanchez is a top notch trainer.
Ward has a BDSM practitioner in his corner

That is not a very impressive amateur career. It's not bad of course but it's not something to talk about 10-15 years later. The junior WC title corresponds to today's youth titles, roughly. The only other pro boxer and former youth champion that comes to mind right now is Joey Dawejko.

He's just saying Barrera isn't as polished as Golovkin. Not exactly controversial.
The way he worded things was a bit disrespectful to both Sullivan and Ward though.

The last time he accomplished anything notable as an amateur was 6 years before he turned pro?

Looks more like a dude that peaked young.

Nah. I give him his props as a solid contender (and Andre props for outclassing him and knocking some rust off), but he's more of an 11-20 guy than a 1-10 one. 175 has too many up and comers and too many strong fighters at the top for him to snag a title.

He really isn't a top notch trainer though. Not enough solid fighters have come from under his wing and his ideas are nothing new and revolutionising.
