Pavlik would absolutely certainly not last 12 against a prime RJJ, certainly not. The others I agree with
Pavlik's chin isn't china. He gets hit a lot, can be hurt, but has shown great recuperative abilities. His chin is good with all things considered.
Certainly not when you consider this clash of styles. RJJ is horrible for him. RJJ's speed and incredible freakish athleticism, throwing hurtful shots from all angles against Pavlik's defence, can you imagine it? No chance.
He still didn't last 12 rounds, did he? And Lucas is a different fighter. His defence isn't outstanding, but he isn't as aggressive walking forward like Pavlik does. The styles clash isn't as bad for Lucas, in terms of getting knocked out.
Eric Lucas was a fair fighter with a good chin, quite a different story. I actually count the Lucas win for Roy in his full list because Lucas went on to be a decent contender at SMW. Lucas chin>Pavlik's soft jaw.
pavlik's chin is fine for me so far. no-one's talking about cotto's chin all that much and yet there are similarities between the cotto - torres fight and the first taylor - pavlik one. cotto could easily have been called chinny after that because, even though weight issues were said to be the cause, because who would have argued if the ref had stopped the fight in round 2 and awarded the fight to torres? not me.
I've seen Pavlik take some big shots from Zuniga and Miranda. I'm not going to claim his chin is iron or rock solid by any means, but it's good, nothing more. A guy with a pure glass chin would be knocked out by some of the shots he's been hit with. And the shot with Taylor was an equilibrium thing. Affected his balance, his legs got shaky, and Taylor followed up with 18 consecutive punches without a shot in return. But this could potentially come into play with Abraham because Abraham throws wide punches that end up on the side of the head, and he carries significantly more power than Taylor.
perhaps but that could also work in pavlik's favour as it did against miranda, who is also a wide puncher.
