At the end of round 8, this is what Eubank said, which is being shown on internet and media:
"if you keep on beating him like this. One, he's getting hurt. Two, if it goes to a decision, why hasn't the referee stopped the fight. I don't get why. So maybe you shouldn't leave it to the referee. Now you're not going to take him out to the face, you're going to take him out to the body."

What he said wasn't about the opponent's safety, he was telling Eubank jnr how to beat the opponent in the best way.

I can't believe people are falling for this, as Chris Eubank was telling Eubank Jr to go the opponents body earlier in the fight. He stresses this particuarly during end of round 4, pointing to the body saying:
"break the trunk and the tree will fall". Even the trainer tells him to "take his body." This was a boxing strategy to beat the opponent, as he was unable to knock him out, as he was a "hard nut to crack" in Chris Eubank's words when speaking at the end of one of the rounds. It had nothing to do with safety for the opponent.
If this wasn't enough proof, at the end of the ninth round, Chris Eubank tells Eubank Jnr.
"I want you to take this guy out. I don't want it to go to a decision." (this is the round after the one that is being shown in the media, where Chris Eubank says to go for the body of the opponent). Yeah, that's real safety for the opponent. Shame on the media! They have no respect for the truth, and people will believe anything.

  2. Your point?

Snr already admitted his focus was on winning the fight and not doing any more unnecessary damage because he believed his son was ahead.

Blame Blackwell's team and his cronies and the shameless commentators that were lying to the dumb brits telling them that the kid was still in the fight. Ask yourself why the media are not placing the blame at their door for trying to intimate Jnr, why BJS was waving his belt in the ring in front of him before the fight, while at ringside with all his caravan friends and why Nick's cowboy trainer told him lies about Jnr running out of steam.

My point, which I made already, is what Chris Eubank said in the quote above was not for the concern of the opponent and for Blackwell's safety, which is what is all over the media, it was for advising his son on how best to win against Blackwell. Please see evidence above, thanks.

Even a troll must admit he had some concern for Blackwell's safety

After the fight yea... but during? You must be mad to believe that.
Snr was only thinking about one thing - winning the fight.

If Eubank snr didn't have any kind of worry for Nick's health then why would he have said the first part of the statement?

I'm not foolish enough to think it was all about that but lets be honest anyone that watched the fight could see that Nick Blackwell had given his all but in the last few rounds it was really all about him seeing the final bell. Eubanks jr wasn't tiring the way they thought and was well ahead on all the cards so what Eubanks snr was saying was right. If he kept the sustained beating to Nick by continually hitting him on the head it could have ended up far worse for Nick, Eubank jr could have kept his attacks to the body or even used movement for the rest of the fight and he had won.

Please everyone see sense and stop making these needless threads to try mock Eubank snr because of your dislike for him as a person. If anybody on the planet would have sympathy for a boxer getting a beating in the ring then it is him and it showed after the Michael Watson fight that he could clearly be seen to outbox opponents when he could have finished them.

I wish Nick Blackwell a full and speedy recovery and I sincerely hope that he can get as close to 100% as possible and can still enjoy a full life from there on.

the hands up myth in british boxing needs to stop for the safety of the fighters. according to 90% of people in british boxing nick blackwell used the perfect boxing defense of glueing your hands high to your head. it doesnt work and turns you into a punchbag. people who teach that have no idea about boxing. anybody can put a towel over their shoulder shout "hands up" and all of the sudden they are a boxing trainer.

Everyone seems to have forgot the fact that Chris Snr had been seen banging his hands on the ring apron shouting at the ref to stop the fight and had a telling off from the ref for doing so. I do believe that there was more concern from the Eubanks corner for Nick Blackwells safety than from his own. People have also said that at no point in the fight was Blackwell hurt...excuse me...have any of you guys took repeated punches to the face and body...I have and I can tell you now, there's been times when I wished that I would be Ko'd rather than have to endure the excruciating pain that can bei inflicted.

Yeah, If I remember correctly that was relatively early on in the fight too...when no one even had a thought about stopping it. Honestly I think Eubank snr wants fights stopped early so Eubank Jnr can win as soon as he hits an opponent with a wild flurry of punches, even when only a few of those punches actually get through, and even if the guy isn't wobbled at all. My only concern is after what happened to Blackwell, a dim witted ref might do just that.

Oh yeah because victory for Eubank Jr was looking so uncertain :patsch

English is a man of great dignity, if he says he had Blackwells well being on his mind then I believe him, who are you cynical tarts to question the big man?

Why would he tell Jr to go the body to get the job finished when Blackwells face was basically hanging off, surely he knew any more facial damage would elicit a stoppage which it eventually did anyway.

Seems a lot of people are blinded by their hate for the Eubanks.

If you have a boxer who is tiring but you haven't been able to wobble them even though you've thrown hundreds of punches at his jaw, then you go to the body to stop them.

Believe him if you want but I've read enough of his faux-allegorical nonsense on Twitter to decide that most of what he says is nonsense.

  15. You honestly have to be a cretin of the highest order if you believe the instructions were given to Jr in order to save Blackwell.

It is beyond comprehension that anyone could actually be dumb enough to think that.
