Khan vs Canelo on Boxnation?

Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by billo_billy, Mar 31, 2016.

  1. The rights fees for Khan - Diaz were £300k.

    This will cost a fortune.

Just been confirmed. That's quite a big deal for BN

Sky must have thought they had it, especially when they sent johnny nelson over there

Says to me they're more interested in just doing Matchroom shows than international fights. Probably more profitable for them

  6. Not really. Canelo is best know to the casuals as someone who was schooled by Floyd. They won't have watched him since so he isn't a big draw. Khan isn't well liked and won't bring in a multitude of subscribers either.

No doubt BN paid over the odds and will lose yet more money on the event. They're specialists at that.

It's probably the biggest currently announced fight in boxing so I think it'll do quite well for them. So long as it's on TV somewhere in the UK anyway

Have you not seen Joshua - Martin?

  10. If it's not a standalone PPV event with an instant purchase option (that Fisheyes and his son were banging on about) then I can't see masses of people subscribing. You have to remember it's at 4/5 am.

PaddyGarcia, it's a big fight, no doubt, but doesn't have the casual cross over appeal in my opinion. I have had friends who don't massively care about boxing plan next weekend to watch Joshua as they've massively bought into his hype, but there's been no conversations about Khan and there won't be.

Yeah, worldwide and to the more hardcore boxing fans in the UK this is a bigger fight.

In the UK absolutely. AJ could go on Sky Sports and tug himself off whilst drawing ridiculous viewing figures

I'd imagine that they couldn't have both it was one or the other.

Good coup for the channel but the domestic action is threadbare currently.
