Delusional. What Golovkin can make as the B-side in a Canelo fight is comparable to what he can make as the A-side in a BJS fight. There is no getting around this. A Career high payday against Canelo has been severely exaggerated by Canelo fans.

because i dont think you are factoring in the exposure from a big ppv fight against canelo and future potential earnings ....vs fighting bjs on BAD on reg hbo in front of his usual audience(the one that doesnt support him as the a-side on ppv agianst the likes of lemeiux)

Nelo is a middleweight. A real one who has been campaigning at Jr. middleweight. If he really wanted to fight GGG, Nelo wouldn't need a catch weight since there is no weight advantage and both are at 160. Eventually Nelo will have to fight GGG at 160. So I think GGG is just waiting so he doesn't have to give in on this demand. The problem is winning is never guaranteed....so both need to keep winning in order for the bout to have a chance to happen at 160.

 

You're right, obliterating a top 3 MW and exposing GGG to the UK audience would pale in comparison to exposing Canelo for the B+ fighter that he is. One day the claimn is that all GGG needs is a top win to be taken seriously now it's a top win would be pointless. Not to mention literally everyone you just said is purely hypotheitcal and the fact remains that the BJS payday and the Canelo payday are effectively the same.

Had Ward accepted the 168 lb fight when the MW division was cold, ie when Martinez was the only truly elite level Champion, GGG would have moved up, since Martinez was NEVER a big payday fight.

However, when Cotto and Canelo, $$$$ fights along the lines of Froch/Chavez Jr, it appears quite simple as to why GGG wanted to remain near the MW limit.

Soas he could drop the weight to get those $$$ fights. :roll:

He's just not gonna show his hole cards ATM.

If he can't get BJS or Jacobs this summer, he'll take the 155 lb in September.

That said.....

If he gets a unification fight with BJS, in or around July, not competing with the Chicago and New York playoff series, HBO will make another PPV and Golovkin will allow the Canelo fight to simmer until next May, while accepting yet ANOTHER cool MILLION to watch from ringside while Canelo fights another legend, maybe Darchinyan.

 

Ggg messed up years back sayin all big fights at 154 to 168 he wants. Ggg n his team said after there focus is unifying the titles at 160.
