GGG needs to offer 157 to Canelo

NO! The A side is always in position to demand a catchweight.
Golovkin accepting a catchweight would not compromise him as the middleweight champion nor will it send a message to other fighters that they can demand a catchweight for a fight with GGG.

When GGG becomes the A side during a negotiation, he becomes the one that will seek for demands to be met. As of now, he's clearly the B side vs Canelo and if he has any aspirations to fight A level fighters, it is GGG who will have to give in to demands.

 

The **** is confusing about this? If negotiations for a mandatory can not be concluded successfully, it goes to purse bid with pre set criteria.

You know this, everyone knows this, but seem to pretend otherwise. :huh

The thread starters opinion is that GGG needs to man up and concede to the A side if he wants to become the A side.
Even gave an example of Canelo himself making weight concessions to Mayweather.

Mayweather himself at one point was the B side. He conceded every demand that DLH had A thru Z.

Yeah, GGG can wait it out and let the WBC strip Canelo, but what this thread has mentioned is that it wouldn't do him any good to carry another belt if it meant he'd keep on defending it against the same level of opposition he's been fighting so far.

If GGG once to up his competition level, he's going to have to concede to the A side.

G fans need to understand, Gennady Golovkin is not the A side of a Canelo -Golovkin matchup.

Mostly fair enough, and yeah I didn't read the whole thread. Can you blame me given there are approx 634534 identical ones?

BUT I was responding to "NO! The A side is always in position to demand a catchweight." This is only true for a fighter who doesn't care about keeping their status as champion. Which, while not exactly uncommon, isn't the norm.

I agree if he wants that payday any time soon, he'll likely have to take it. Unless of course Canelo gets so much emasculating abuse for giving up his belt literally without a fight that he cries himself to sleep in his bed of money and caves in.

In the long run, if GGG can get all the belts, by whatever means, everyone will have to come through him. No more clowns desperately scrambling for the one he doesn't have before proudly proclaiming themselves the champ. Sounds good no?

 

That doesn't make it right. It also makes everyone complete hypocrites for complaining when Manny and Floyd did it and then support Canelo when he does it.
