Here's a Twitter video headlined "best not be standing in front of Arthur Abraham when he's throwing" How the hell is he, and how did he ever become a world champion? https://twitter.com/trboxing/status/717115477777117184?s=09 That video is an embarrassment and he looks like someone who's just been dragged into a gym for the first time.
He is hardly the second coming of Ali but he gave the fans some good fights. He fought Miranda twice when he was hot, fought Ward, Dirrell, Froch, Taylor, his fights against Stieglitz were also quite entertaining. Don't see why fans moan about him. Their are other fighters fans should direct their anger to.
Really bad padwork is as the trainer hits the pads against the gloves of the boxer. I've seen that so many times, and then people are all like "wow, look how fast this guy is!"
Some guys look great on pads but cant fight in the ring. If you look at these guys throwing 50 fast punches in a row on the pads, just think "When on earth is he ever going to get to throw 50 fast tapping punches in a fight?"
He has deceptive KO power. although his punches don't look massive or fast he has deadly power in both hands, he is somewhere between Carlos Monzon & Ali Raymi
His technique has always been poor in my opinion but he has made it work for him. Would you say Froch was awkward looking at times? Poor footwork? Calzaghe was often called Calslappy because of his punching style. I wonder how many top level fighters/world champions we could name that had genuinely "poor technique" in certain areas.
Instead of getting the best attributes from all fighters to make the ultimate fighter could we stick together the most awkward looking, poor technique fighter from world champions?
