Deontay Wilder-Alexander Povetkin To Have VADA Testing

Andrei Ryabinsky, promoter for Olympic gold medal winner and former WBA champion Alexander Povetkin (30-1, 22KOs), is planning to use VADA [Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency] for the mandatory showdown against WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (36-0, 35KOs).

In February, Ryabinsky submitted the winning purse bid to secure the promotional rights for the fight. He put in a bid of over $7 million to win, while Wilder's side, led by promoter Lou DiBella, put in $5.1 million.

The promoter will stage the highly anticipated event on May 21 in Moscow, Russia.

As part of his plan to beef up the event. He will set a high profile co-feature, which is going to have WBA cruiserweight champion Denis Lebedev and IBF champion Victor Ramirez battle in a unification. The bout was originally being planned for April 30th in Moscow.

Wilder's team demanded a solid organization to handled the drug testing protocol for the fight. VADA was one of the companies they preferred to use.

VADA is now working very closely with the World Boxing Council, who plan to start testing champions and top contenders on a regular basis for performance enhancing drugs.

"The WBC is working with VADA, and I understand that with them there are less problems and they have earned an excellent reputation and reputation. They can be trusted and recognized by the World Anti-Doping Agency," Ryabinsky said.

I think a lot of Wilder fans were also Mayweather fans that were freaking out when Pacquiao asked for VADA. I thought VADA was ****.

Very good. But I thought the WBC had said that every world title fight would be under VADA testing since this year? So why wouldn't it be under VADA testing?
It's not like the WBC to change their rules any way they see fit right? Right? ;)

Putin has his best KGB agents holding guns to the heads of the wives and children of some of Russias best chemists. They need to be making undetectable roids cuz the rest of the world are getting a bit moany about Russian sports people.

Ofcourse they still need some run of the mill see it a mile off roids to put in Wilders drinks and food. Just in case he wins.

Yes its quite clear i dont trust the Russians.

I can see why that is, given the stellar reputation and clean record of every american pro boxer.

I particularly enjoyed the honest endevours of Roy Jones , Shane Mosley, James Toney, Shannon Briggs, Floyd Mayweather etc

Lets not forger such wonderful and clean athletes as Lance Armstrong, the 6 time tour de france champion that has never been caught taking PEDs.

Where all the Flo-Emos at who, as they always do being the verminous spineless worms they are, flip flopped and became pro VADA all of a sudden? You know, the testing agency that Floyd ducked the hell out of because he knew they wouldn't cover up his failed tests like FLOSADA did? :think

    Filthy scabs.

Thats an interesting interpretation of OPs post. Personally I thought the point of OPS post was to relieve the stress from the Povektin detractors who were using the testing organization ordeal to slander Povektins good name.
