£6m?? Are you bonkers! More like £1m max and that's fair enough for a champ defending away from home

I can imagine it's true or near enough, they've had to pay him big to fight away in his first defence.
    What's Joshua getting?

Makes sense, I thought the figures of 2mil were much too low. Considering its a belt against a more established opponent (even though nonBritish), it should be a much bigger deal than the Joshua Whyte fight, and that made 10mil I think. And Martin would get at least 50% I would assume in this fight.

Martin is an al haymon fighter....when a haymon fighter makes over 5m dollars. ..he activates a clause where haymon owns hus viewing right and takes a cut of the purse. ..also a 3 year non négociable extension is activated

I'm hoping for this. It would make my weekend seeing him and Joshua's fans cry.

Well Hearn paid Linares a lot of money to here and fight Mitchell, obviously not that much  but that didn't turn out too well for Matchroom.

Indeed haha, maybe an omen. I'd prefer a less gallant performance in this defeat though. A nice clean ko to shut the bandwagon sheep up.

He's getting it because Eddie's a money man. If that's what he had to pay to sign up Martin, its well worth it. Even if it doesn't pull in a dime more than that, Hearn knows that a comparatively small investment now is the best way to maximize his profit long term. Joshua gets a belt now, that puts him on equal footing with Wilder or Fury. Actually, better footing than Wilder, because of his financial base. Anyway, 50% of a 25mil purse for Fury Joshua unification bout is a lot more than a couple million for a run of the mill match now and then 20-25% of a 15-20 mil non unification bout (over 6 million more).

But the fact is, this fight will still probably bring in twice that 6 mil payout because its a hugely publicized title fight. They'll pull in 6mil themselves, more than they would have made fighting most anyone else at this stage (and certainly more than anyone who poses the comparatively small risk).

Brilliant move by Hearn and Joshua.
