Eddie Hearn -Callum Smith ready for Kovalev and GGG

Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by Primal Pledge, Apr 7, 2016.

  1. Eddie Hearn And Nigel Benn have said that callum smith will soon be ready to fight the Krusher. and GGG in the next year

Says he's the best super middleweight

Well if he wants his boy to end up like Apollo creed, then in 18 months time put him in there with Kovalev.

Well, that's good to know for Kova and Golovkin, that there's someone out there who's promoter is willing to feed him to them.

Golovkin is tiny compared to Smith. He's listed at 5'10" but here he is just as tall as Canelo which is pretty much 5'7", 5'8" at a push. Callum Smith is a 6'3" future Cruiserweight. If anyone thinks that's an easy fight for Golovkin, you have no real grasp of size in boxing.

Kovalev is a different story and a ridiculous comment from Hearn at this stage. But Callum Smith has all the size advantages over Golovkin and who says he can't chin Golovkin? Golovkin went 11 with Murray. It's pretty reasonable to think Smith could stop Murray within 8 based on current form.

ggg is one thing but kovalev is a huge lhw with massive power and great control of distance. how exactly is callum smth going to get anywhere near him. promoters job is to say dumb **** like this to get more attention. if he cared about callum smiths health he would keep him well away from kovalev.

  6. Yes but Murray's whole gamplan was to survive, he didn't trouble GGG, his goal was to be the first to go 12 rounds with him.

GGG wouldn't just stand in front of Smith and let him blast him out on the ropes like that Mohammed guy did. GGG would outbox smith and break his face.

His ring IQ. is severely underrated and would run rings around Smith. Height doesn't mean anything when you are going against a pure boxer and a fighter who hits like a mule.

Agreed. My post was just in response to Robney who seems to think it's a given that Golovkin wins easy against Smith.

Gallagher was dropping the name of George Groves for a year to boost Smith's profile. That's a fight that could be easily be made now, never mind mythical fights against fighters from different divisions.
Smith is mandatory challenger now and isn't going to risk that.

I think Callum will win a world title, easily in fact. But his lack of head movement IMO will be his downfall when he makes the step up to fight elite level fighters.

Callum Smith would end GGG if he ever went up to to SMW.

he is a joe gallagher fighter after all, he has too have the lack of head movement trademark:lol:

  13. And come forward to walk in straight lines

Even Conor Benn who looks like a good talent, is picking up this one dimensional old skool habit.

Smith has looked good so far but it is a game of levels. To say he's ready for two of the best P4P is extremely premature at the moment.

i can imagine lomachenko coming to train at joe gallaghers gym, one minute into sparring joe stops it and is enraged ' what is this **** vasyl, wdf are you doing moving your head and moving side to side, we walk forward in straight lines in this gym and keep our head tooked in a still. the only time i want to see your head moving is when your getting punched trying to walk him down'

i think only come forward brawlers should be trained by joe, if you have any skill find yourself a real trainer who can teach you movement and can plan a tactical fight
