just seen the weigh in for this fight and george groves looks massive compared to david brophy. they already look like they should be in different weight divisions and by tomorrow it will look even more. is george groves really that big for super middleweight or is david brophy just small for it? thoughts?
I saw the weigh in too and didn't look like a huge size difference. Brophy looked peeled on the stage so if anything he struggles to make 168. He was shredded. All of this is irrelevant anyway because the gulf in terms of skill level and power is too much and Brophy will be massacred.
The looked much more closely matched than they did at yesterdays press conference head to head. George is big and has broader shoulders than brophy which probably explains why he looks bigger
Groves isn't that big at 168, he was a bit smaller than Froch & DeGale in terms of height and smaller than Jack also. A big 168 is Callum Smith who's 6'3, and Gilberto Ramirez is 6'2.
Callum Smith is a monster at 168lb unreal. Groves will be the heavier in ring tomorrow against Brophy and his class will tell in the end. TV coverage in the UK would be far improved for hardcore fight fans and educate the casuals if they followed HBO for example in ring weight on the night.Tried telling casual boxing fan friends about rehydration after weigh-in's looked totally perplexed. Akin to trying to explain the offside rule in football to a woman :-(
Groves looked sucked in to me like he has cut at least 8/9lbs of water, Brophy looks like he had an easier cut will gain much less but thats only me guessing.
