Is Martin the biggest disappointment of late?

It is a shame really. He seems like a guy who genuinely do not care much about anything, I guess he did not care about the audience at all. He got his paycheck.

 

It's all about experience. People need to realize what level of experience these Olympic athletes have.

Look at Rigo, Ward, Lomechenko, Klitschko, etc...

They are just a step above all the other contenders.

 

It's not his fault - someone told him to double jab.

 

He got the title after an injury from Glazkov,his opposition before that was very bad.Glazkov had few controversial wins,robberies and a draw but had way better opposition.

Cant get disappointed with someone who is on journeyman level and got payday + won title [even if it IBF paper one] ,he overachived,cashed out,quitted also.

C level fighter at best,thats what Martin was.I struggle to see find and call best win on his pathetic resume,Glazkov was injury and nothing else,he got lucky.

 

I just don't understand why anyone actually thought Charles Martin was good. I don't mean to be cruel saying that.

But be honest. He had no amateur credentials to speak of. He fought nobodies. And I don't mean to be cruel there either. They were literally nobodies. He joined that Heavyweight Factory in Florida where they were trying to turn football players into boxers. Haymon picked him up with he was signing up everyone and their brother before launching PBC. The inherently corrupt IBF gave him some ridiculous rating, despite having fought absolutely no one.

The IBF strips Fury because Kathy Duva and Glazkov turned the screws, and Martin was brought in to lose to Glazkov. Glazkov wins the first two rounds of their fight on the official cards, and then Glazkov twists his knee and Martin is named the "new heavyweight champ."

It was a huge joke.

Joshua actually smiled and kind of laughed after flooring him the second time, because Martin fought like a football player who just learned how to box. Joshua flattened him when Martin came in with his left hand down. Martin got up, and came in the exact same way again ... so Joshua threw the same punch again, and Martin went down exactly the same way again.

It was like Joshua was saying with that laugh, "How dumb is this guy?"

All I can think is the people who ignored what was plainly visible on the film of Martin are people who give a TON of weight to someone who has a belt ... even if that belt was given to a guy who had zero qualifications, and wasn't even winning the fight for the title ... the "pretender" he was fighting for the vacant belt just hurt his leg.

The quicker Charles Martin is forgotten the better. I actually feel bad for Anthony Joshua. I'm sure he thought winning a heavyweight title would be a lot more epic than beating that inept opponent he fought tonight.

And I felt bad for Frank Bruno, who was sitting in the audience. He had to fight Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis and Tim Witherspoon the first three times he fought for the title. If Bruno had to go through Charles Martin for a belt, he'd have been the champ in his first 16 fights, too. Jumbo Cummings was more talented and dangerous than Charles Martin was.

 

I don't think it was quitting at all. He lacks experience and knowledge and certainly not ready for top prospects or the upper echelon of the division. At least I picked this fight correctly, I didn't like what I heard from his camp, the strategy put forth was stupid, etc. I just didn't want Martin to get bombed out. He now has to redeem himself in his next fight on TV.

 

I told everyone Charles Martin was terrible. **** off with that southpaw thing. Joshua fought way better southpaws than C- Martin. And yeah, people can say Martin was beating Glazkov on their card before the stoppage, but Glazkov is an extremely slow starter. Who knew what would've happened through the stretch.

 

The fact Martin controversially won a vacated belt tells you a lot about his supposed credentials. If Joshua goes on to beat Parker that will mean a lot more, but that is a distinct 'if'.

What's really disappointing is that a boxer the caliber of Martin could have a belt.

 

Whats sad is the amount of heavyweights out there who would justify being in that position way more than that extinct bum!.Not that any of the other heavyweights are exceptioonal,just that they are far better than that sack of cack.
How did that lump of flaccid blubber make himself a million payday cheque?A travesty ,it appears the IBF was an open gate for any old sack of sh*** thank God Joshua has shut that gate

 

no, there was nothing to be excited about, he won the title by default, he did nothing to get this hype and to be fighting for a title to begin with.

 

Say what you want but when joshua starts putting it on you. None of them will last.

Joshuas actually a basic boxer. But that strength and powers not natural. If it is...i ll take my hat off. But we re talking about a decent level of heavyweigt boxing. From a guy with about 30 amatuer fights. Blowing half decent fighters away easier that mike tyson who trained from about 14 years old as basically a professional did.

Somethings not right here.

Say what you want but i wouldnt be going in a ring with joshua without a ****load of drugs.

 

Yes and he walks through IBF's revolving door and ends up getting a million for being a bag of sh***.He made Dylian Whytes performance look magnificent,how the **** did that crock get a title?
