Takam and Parker are not "huge" steps up. Any names Takam has a win over were in their primes in the 1990s. And you can still find videos of Parker losing fights in the WSB like three or four years ago. Anthony Joshua is far superior to both Takam and Parker. I'm happy that Joshua took the Martin fight and destroyed him (like I thought he would). Martin is not a good fighter at all. Joshua would've regretted it for the rest of his life if he didn't take the fight with Martin. Joshua will never have an easier time winning a title than he did tonight. That was nearly a walkover. Martin was that bad. Outside of any unification fights, the biggest threat to Joshua at the moment is David Haye. People like to make fun of Haye for losing to Wlad and backing out of fights, but Haye has murderous power. He feels he can tag Joshua and Haye would have a legit shot at knocking out anyone in the division - Joshua included. But Haye's about it. Chisora might get a shot. But Haye destroyed Chisora when they fought. So I'd rather see Haye get a shot before Chisora. That said, if Joshua fights the Parker-Takam winner, Chisora and Haye, that's a solid series of challengers. I wish Joshua the best. Boxing is better tonight with Joshua as one of the champions. I look forward to seeing Joshua, Fury and Wilder engage in a round-robin series of fights. I think it would be fantastic.
Joshua is the fakest and worst HW title holder that ever lived. Michael Brentt was considered one , but he beat Morrosion. Morrison was a legit title holder after he beat beat Foreman. Rewind to just last year. Tell some one you'd be a world champ by beating Charles Martin and they'd laugh in your face.
I think Martin has proved to be the worst. Anyway, anyone whos boxing knows that the belts only use is as a negotiation tool. AJ will step up the competition and we can judge him as a fighter then.
Did not look "not ready" to me last night. He's got quite a few options now - mando defenses against Parker/Takam, Pulev/Chisora, etc.) and a whole gang of other, hardly highly dangerous options for voluntary defense. Enough fights and time to "grow up" before unification bouts. Men to avoid for no - Ortiz, Fury, Wilders, Wlad, Povetkin, may be Haye...
cmon guys what does it mean 'too early' - why so much calculation in boxing nowadays ? He took his chance, and took the belt easily, why shouldnt he use that chance ? And maybe yes, maybe he will lost this belt in his 2nd or 3rd fight - but whats wrong with that ? Its how the titles should be used, like in golden era. You have used to Klitchko's title holders and now you compare to it evrythin, but its not the good way. Boxing is fighting - this day you beat the cahmp and have a title in your hand, next day someone better beats you and he will have it - no more calculation before title fights "if i keep the title 10 years hmmm?" ...
True, I'd throw Parker in there too for avoiding in the next 2-3 fights. He could do with some stamina building fights. Best style/cash reward fights for him are: Chisora, Browne, Price, Pulev...even Briggs. All could be touted as a 'big' fight with a name opponent but I fancy The Don to flatten all these.
if u win a world title you have to fight the best, there should be no easy fights for AJ or he joins the liars A-E from Klitschko to Martin. Hes had his cake, now he has to eat it.
Joshua took the opportunity. The sad thing is in the UK we will probably have to pay for a few PPV ****fests before we see him a decent match up. Still the good thing is the bigger fights are here in the UK providing Joshua and Fury keep winning.
This. Don't know why people insist Parker is too much for Joshua right now. Parker has not beaten anybody of note. Whyte has been more impressive than Parker. I think Joshua beats Fury now, give him a few fights and in two years he makes Fury, Wilder look like easy work.
I know exactly how great Joshua is. What have you missed ? What part of his ****nal not at the elite level ???? I'll get opposite opinions, just like I did 3+ years ago stating ggg is the greatest mw I've ever seen... I'll say the exact same thing for Joshua, he's the greatest hw I've ever seen. We are so lucky to have such rare talents at the same time. They don't have the resumes yet, and that's how fighter's are rated on here. By ****ing boxrec garbage. They've both answered every question greater than any I've seen before them. Spence could possibly join them but he hasn't had the opportunity to answer my questions. Winner of ward /kovalev joins for sure, possibly even both. Ward should already be there but I have bias against his fans, but mostly bias against their alts
If he can fight for Furys belt , then he should be willing to fight Fury sometime very soon. I see Joshua becoming the HW version of Kell Brook. Hope not. And the IBF rank looks a lot better than it does at 147.
joshua is not ready to take on all commers ortiz might be to skillfull / wilder to long/fury to unorthodox/povetkin to in his face/ we still do not know/ i would like to see dulhaupus up next / rock for a chin / take joshua rounds and public would accept it / a decent exercise unless he blows dulhaupus away early. then squeeze in another fight say beazale another prospect then it will be parker i think / a genuinely hard fight for joshua from what i have seen of parker he looks a very good prospect with good fundamentals bar jab / but joshua is the same. without the belt parker would have been avoided IMO with the belt we get to see a good match up of styles. as i have said before a loss should not be seen as career ending to anything but an old vet.
