Having said that, isn't he one win away from keeping the Lonsdale belt? Or would he need to win it again and defend it? He always mentioned wanting it for keeps and he certainly beats nobody remotely near world level. Never has.
He's not eligible to fight for the British title, as he doesn't even have a BbbofC license, and once (if) he gets one I doubt he'd be straight into the frame to fight for it. For me Blackledge and Fielding are the two stand outs, Luke has already beat two of the top ten ranked below him (Cameron & markham) and of course Rocky has beat Luke, they stand out.. Pretty sure P smith would have to win it & then make a defence to own it outright as fighting for a vacant title wouldn't constitute a defence of it. So that would be at least 2 fights before he owns outright, doubt he'd want that when he's looking for world shots or at least big name fights.
Does that mean you'd be looking to take it ASAP , given that Cal smith still holds it atm? Or would you wait til he's vacated , very understandable if so!
Doesn't matter who has it sparred Callum couple times for rocky fielding and boxed him twice as an amature,I believe it will be vacant has he's chases world title which I think he will win
Fair play Liam, fair play! All the best for the Smyle fight & who knows maybe your on another road trip to Lancs sometime in with Blackledge again. Good little s**** that was!
I'm pretty sure he as his licence and is top ten ranked He also as so I'm told a very good team behind him , I think he is going to be a force at the weight
Yeah thanks mate the blackledge fight was a off night for me didn't box has good has can we pushed hard for the rematch for 13th may but in there defence why fight me again
No defo doesn't have a BBBofC license , hence fighting overseas so much. From what I understand he's in the process of trying to get one, but don't know where he's upto - last I read he was on bail for a serious assault though. He's in the gym with Kev Maree isn't he, Kev knows his apples so I'm sure he can do well. As for rankings, he's been ranked for a while on boxrec, but a lot of lads who don't hold licenses are - it's nothing to do with the board.
Was a good fight, tbh it's fair enough in them not taking the rematch - he's not the kind of kid to avoid people isn't Blackledge - you and markham in his last 2 prove that. But he needs to select fights wise which he's not always done (skoglund / fielding short notice), in order to develop etc , but who knows further down the line.
