Why come is UKs bravest fighter (Amir Khan) not respected by his countryman?

    Always baffled me

Khan win or lose is a warrior...

    Fought the best unlike Brookz

Dude has stones and stepped up to the monster Canelo

    Yet he gets little respect

Oh my too many reasons to go into, Khan is the UK version of Andre Ward if Khan knows how to turn off the fans he'll do or say whatever it takes to get it done.

Such a shame really he's one of the most naturally gifted boxers Britain has ever had, shame his attitude and the way he carries himself stinks.

He should have been a huge star in the UK but blew his chances. I mean who has their last amateur fight televised on national TV like he did, 6.2 million people tuned into the Kindelaan rematch.

But his arrogance, career mistakes, poor attitude to training which led to his split with Oliver Harrison, being convicted of dangerous driving, practically killing some poor man and then get caught for speeding at 140mph a few weeks later, cherry picking, delusions of grandeur, cheating on his wife etc have turned the public against him.

He is asian and muslim also doesn't help Bcus of some fans and racist attitude where members of the asian sub continent communit have been seen as a weaker ppl and thus picked on - having a guy as successful and skilled as khan doesn't sit right with ppl and so they will hate on him as much as possible - the guy doesn't have the best chin but he fights and seeks the best and always has ppl on the edge of Their seats - he is a former lightweight fighting canelo - he got up and fought wen clearly busted up by garcia (not smart but entertaining)

Attitude, ego, Etc is all an excuse Bcus there are worse boxers with worse egos and statements

Just on the issue of religion and race - it does also tend to be coupled in when they don't like they guy as well - Bcus isn't always the same as there are other muslim boxers and trainers and ppl of other faiths who box and are respected

Saying that, there are of course many fans who do respect khan and others and are be racists etc

Also it is true that khan can be annoying as well (delusions of grandeur etc) but is it something other fighters don't have?

Absolute **** that race or religion has anything to do with it. He had 6m people watch his last amateur fight and the whole boxing community was behind his search for professional success. Unfortunately it was his attitude and behavior which turned the public off. In a way not too dissimilar to Audley and Degale. It was as if Olympic Gold gave them a sense of entitlement rather than being a shiny stepping stone. Only Degale has gone some way towards turning that around.

Of course his religion plays a part. Anybody who denies this is delusional. Damn we even have people in this very forum who don't like him because he is a Muslim.

Is this the only reason, no but you can't tell me it doesn't exist.

As for hamed, yes he was very popular but remember this was a pre 9/11 world. The anti Islam bigotry was nowhere near the levels it is today.

Also hamed wasn't Asian. He is an Arab.

Now as for Khan, his main problem is his mouth. He makes some silly comments which just **** people off.

1.annoying northwest accent (at least for southerners it is).

    2. says odd things (although Tyson fury does far worse)

BUT MAIN reason for me is his car "accident" which led to someones death.

funny how Manc-like accent sometimes doesn't sound good on men (though its well hot on women).

theres also probably a very tiny minority who hate on Asians in general but they hardly represent any valid reasoning other than racism.
