As soon as a real threat in Frankie Edgar 1 legit fight away from a title shot, he hangs up the gloves and retires
It's either 1) He wants to negotiate more money from Dana White and the Fertittas for UFC 200 2) He blew his ACL again, can't continue the career safely because of health reasons 3) USADA caught him roiding, he knows that he ****ed hot and pulled a Cro Cop style retirement. 4) Recent death of an MMA fighter in Dublin at the hands of his teammate got to him. Maybe he feels too much remorse or is scared that Nate Diaz will literally kill him in the rematch. My guess is either 3 or 4.
So many layers to all this. ...was he being serious? ...was Diaz? ...and man, what if McGregor wasn't but Diaz (mistakenly believing McGregor) was? Awkward!
I saw 3 of his fights Conjob vs Mendes - Mendes took the fight on short notice , did ok and had the upper hand on the ground but gassed and the bigger man won on punches . Conjob vs Aldo - One punch KO , meh .... Diaz vs Conjob - Finally we see a fight where the guys don't have to struggle to make weight . Result ... Diaz the more experienced pro takes out the young pup who after shooting his load early had nothing in reserve and looked like a lost puppy after the first hint of adversity . conclusion - a 3 fight flash in the pan ......next
Yeah, the Aldo knockout is certainly a legitimate result, as you can only beat the man that shows up in front of you, but I do consider it a bit fluky and not representative of how they stack up against each other (especially prime for prime)
