Stevenson not fighting until July

If Stevenson was bluffing about taking the fight after the purse bid, it wasn't a bluff Main Events felt they could afford to call.

 

But if Main Events were to have lost the purse bid wouldn't that put the fight on Showtime and thus breach Kovalev's contract with HBO and set him up for legal action? I'm not lawyer so if anybody can correct me feel free.:huh

Kovalev had no HBO contract at the time the purse bid was ordered. HBO had refusal rights, which meant they could only get the fight on their network if they matched the license fee offered on the open market by any other network. But if they were unable or unwilling to put up an equivalent amount of money up, there were no legal repercussions they could force on Kovalev. And Yvon Michel indicated he'd have no problem with the fight going on HBO if they did, in fact, offer the most money up for the fight.
