Which was the best "Legendary Nights" documentary?

Chavez-Taylor is the best one I've seen as well.

 

I would agree with you on the Meldrick-Chavez episode but the Bowe-Golota episode was very good also.

Honestly I love all of them. But Leonard and Hagler was good and Pyror vs Argullo. But Chavez- Taylor is to sad

 

Pryor vs. Arguello was good. But prob more coz ive seen/heard less of either boxer in mainstream. I did actually know how amazing both were until I saw the documentary

 

The Pryor-Arguello legendary nights epidose lacked a main ingredient.
.....and that was the Arguello himself being interviewed on how he feels about his battle with Pryor now.


Arguello refused to be interviewed for that legendary night episode.
The episode had to revert to interviewing his son instead.
As an Arguello fan, that was a big bummer for me. I wanted to hear it from that great Arguello himself.

There is a deep friendship that has developed between Arguello and Pryor over the years. My belief is that Arguello refused to be interviewed for that legendary nights episode because deep down he believes that Panama Lewis and Aaron Pryor cheated in that epic fight with him.
Arguello who is naturally just an all-around nice guy, probably did'nt want to spill sour grapes on the episode and ruin what is now a great friendship with Pryor.

I've heard Arguello being interviewed many times, and when the subject of Pryor comes up, he always has nice things to say about him. Most of the time Arguello would just sum up a question about his matchup with Pryor with a point that Pryor just turned up to be too strong a fighter.


....in my personal belief, Arguello the nice guy may say those nice things about Pryor, but I dont think he 100% believes it.

A few times that I've heard Aaron Pryor interviewd on the matter of his fights and his relationship with Arguello....Pryor has noted, "Alexis always kids me, and asks me, Aaron what was really in that black bottle?"

Imo, Alexis is over the matter, but he just did'nt want to re-live, and not be honest with the questioning when it related to the black bottle.
.....and the legendary nights episode did focus on the black bottle incident.

Had Arguello himself today been part of the interviewing process and opiniated on the matter today, it would have been a much more interesting and better episode.

However, I respect Arguello for not opening up a can of worms, when after so many years have past, it was'nt going to do anyone any good to do so!

Just my vibe and my opinion on the matter of course.




The best episode I agree was the Chavez-Taylor episode, although HBO was really biased in their view of the stoppage.

I also got a kick out of the Leonard-Hagler episode.
Right from under all your noses, Leonard and his whole team depicted how they were out to create an illusion and brainwash everyone right down to the judges.

.....and most of you guys think it was genius of Leonard, but dont take a hard look at yourself and realize that yes, you were conned!:rofl :rofl :rofl
Just a great episode. It spoke volumes on how the human beings from the fans, sports media, and right down to the judges, can be conned to think they're seeing something thats really not there.

Leonard won that fight on his showmanship and that showmanship of his whole corner. The Legendary nights episode indirectly alluded to it.

The sad part is that most folks looked right over what Leonard and his team had to say on the matter and point to Leonard's victory as being legit!:-(

 

moorer/foreman was pretty good, teddy atlas on it talking about the old version of Foremans punches was funny, holyfield bowe also good

 

Chavez-Taylor was the best.

It was an enjoyable documentary, however people take such simplistic views from the show and post nonsense, to the point where I don't even care anymore if they do another one.

so much drama and replaying that stoppage over and over again, then at the end you see what Taylor looks like now, and it just breaks your heart.

 

for me all of them were great

I myself like Bowe-Golota and Taylor-Chavez most

but its easier to number the one that werent as great as most of them

I think it would be:
- De La Hoya-Trinidad
- Lewis-Tyson
- Leonard-Hearns

but no matter what we say its basicly based on our sympathy and interest to specific boxers

 

I liked the Bowe-Golota one.

 

They announced (sometime last year) that additional episodes would be produced for the series. I don't remember if exactly how many were to be made, maybe HBO didn't even know at the time, but new episodes will be made.

 

I liked the Hagler-Leonard documentary. I thought the interviews were very interesting in light of the somewhat controversial decision, to this day their is still animosity between some of the parties involved.
