Alexander Povetkin talks about his fight against WBC heavyweight title holder Deontey Wilder on May 21 in Moscow.

    — Your first thoughts, when you found out that fight will happen?

    — Of course, I was glad. That’s why I have normal thoughts about it (smiling). Our way to this fight was long enough and finally it will take place.

    — Are you still sticking to your usual philosophy before this fight: “The most difficult opponent is next”?

    — Yes, no changes: the most difficult opponent is your next.

    — Do you have any changes in your mood for this fight in comparison to previous one? It is a title fight that is moreover called the most prestigious.

    — I always had a title fight, that’s why I have mood, in principle, as always.

    — Before this fight, Wilder said that he is going to use Vladimir Klitchko’s tactic that can help him win. Are you ready to clinch most part of fight, if it will be necessary?

    — I was a different fighter during our fight with Klitchko. Now everything is different, and I'm ready to clinch in different way. I have enough physical strength.

    — Everyone noticed unusual Wilder’s activity before your fight: he is calling himself “Black Rocky”, making a lot of posts in social networks and giving interviews regular. What do you think why he is so atypical active?

    — Maybe he is nervous.

I'd be nervous...first time fighting a live body after Spilka was outboxing you.

I really don't know how to read this fight ..

On one hand wilder is a lot bigger has huge power and could potentially outbox him from distance and land some big shots

On the other hand povetkin should have no problem boxing wilders ears off if he is the same fighter we saw against spzillka. Also he wont last long enough to get that lucky punch when povetkin hits you, you stay hit.

Im still on the fence though

What's out of character is Povetkin talking ****. He knows what's coming. He's getting knocked out.

We all know if wilder wins the win will only stand for a week

Winning in russia = failed drug test

It's out of character for him, it means he's shook. Not seeing anything out of character from the Wilder camp.

Yeah, Wilder is still acting like a completely uneducated raging moron so I'd agree everything seems normal.

Povetkin is a real sportsman, Wilder is an entertainer.

Keep in mind, even Manuel Charr showed respect during the face offs. They even both held a Syrian flag together (I think it was Syria) and shaked hands after the staredown.

What will Wilder do? Insult his opponent? Refuse the handshake? Shout bombsquad like a imbecile? He ruins this beautiful sport.

I want to see sportsmanship, I want to see a good fight. I don't need the WWE in boxing.

Povetkin kocks him out and makes him humble.

GGG ruins this sport looking for bums to fight. Deontay is respectful to his opponents that deserve it. He had words of encouragement for Molina and Duhaupas after they were knocked out and you see them bouncing back nicely in their next fight. He had concern for Szpilka's life. He's a better man than I am on that sort of thing.

As if his 'kind words' had anything to do with how they preformed in their last fights...:patsch

He only has huge power against bums.
