the Williams Jr Rodriguez fight...!!!??? He got up!

This ref didn't know about Rodriguez's ability to recuperate. He even got up at 6. :fire.

This separates the good refs from the scary refs. I was ready to see an all out war for however long it lasted lol... Damn...!!! Premature stoppage. Rematch in order.

The referee would probably say the end of the round is not a factor when judging if the fighter can continue, but I feel it should be a factor. Remember Cleverly was physically helped by the referee in his kd at the end of the round against kovolev? ☺

It was a terrible stoppage. He got hit just as hard in his last fight and went down just as hard if not harder and the ref allowed him to continue. Terrible stoppage.

These refs need to educate themselves on the backgrounds of fighters as their homework before fights. The winner of this fight is getting a title shot. I'm not a Rodriguez fan. I rooted for Williams Jr. When a guy gets up at 6 at the end of the round...the ref should take everything into account. He should've asked him to walk forward at least to check his balance.

Rodriguez was out on his feet, we can't see how glazed his eyes were, if he was aware of his surroundings ect the ref can and his opinion was that Rodriguez was in no fit condition to continue regardless if its the end of the round.
Rodriguez has terrible defence and if he keeps taking this kind of punishment he will end up with serious health problems later on.
Its like watching Roy Jones Jr getting ko'ed.
The backgrounds of fighters is irrelevant, the ref is there to protect the fighters from taking too much punishment, he cannot think 'I'll let this go on because he has recovered before', thats just dangerous for the fighter.

As much as I despise you Blizzy I agree with you for once, Rodriguez was no worse off than he was in the Seals fight, the round was basically over, he could have recovered in his corner. It was a bull**** stoppage.

he got knocked down with 8 seconds left in the round, the ref started the count about two seconds after that. why didn't they ring the bell halfway through the count?

Both fighters agree pre-fight that the referee is there to protect the fighter's health first.

That was the main reason ref's don't score fights any more.

If a re-match is in order...then let them sign the contract.

I hold you in rather poor regard as well, but I agree with the both of you.

    Stoppage was bull****.
