does degales recent performances make you second guess this fantasy match up. i mean hes beat some decent names but hes also took his foot of the gas and lazy against dirrell, bute and now medina. hardly a great thing to against the cobra, hes also not a one punch ko artist and i believe groves still hits harder than james, but hasnt the chin or defensive nouse. either way alot of people were saying degale would whoop froch based on styles and froch's age before his retirement. but im starting to see it alot differently now.
Degale can very well neat froch, but froch is a lower B level fighter so it's irrelevant Jack bears froch, he'll true top 3 mw's destroy froch. Let the re entire day lower level fighter's be. Once ggg said he'd fight froch at any weight get immediately retiredelet, all one needs to know. When your 2 best wins are struggling against C level groves we km now froch smoke and mirrors.
I would favour Degale to have outpointed Froch. Degale can be lazy but I dont think he would be in that fight and win a clear wide decision. I was a Froch fan but he was being beaten by Taylor before the stoppage, some felt he was fortunate against Adamu, Johnson, Pascal, Dirrell and he lost to a faded unwell double vision suffering Kessler coming off a loss. On the flip side he had some great wins but I think Degale would clearly outbox Froch
Degale likes to lay on the ropes. Which against Froch is more or less suicide. Degale would seriously have to up his work rate and adapt his tactics to hang with Froch.
thats what im thinking. degale may have a solid chin, but he cant be doing that posing rubbish against froch, groves was punching his heart out trying to keep froch off him. :hey
Would love to see your Taylor v Froch scorecard. Froch won every round from the 6th, so even allowing for the KD in the 3rd, Froch should have only been a couple of points behind going into the last, where he had multiple KD's . Its a myth that Froch got schooled for 11.1/2 rounds by Taylor. He beat Adamu, beat Johnson and Pascal in tough fights, and could have gotten a break against Dirrell. We all know that you're a Calzaghe apologist, so please don't make excuses about an injured Kessler fighting Froch when you know full well Kessler wasn't well before the Calzaghe fight.
I've said consistently Froch would brutalize and KO DeGale and his recent performances have buttressed that belief. Froch would KO DeGale late, it would look like his match against Bute, only he'd Bute DeGale around the 10th instead of the 5th.:deal
At no point did I ever think DeGale was on the level of Froch, and nothing I've seen from DeGale has changed my opinion on that. I pretty much agree with you, that The Cobra would eventually brutalize DeGale in the late rounds.
People will compare their performances against Bute and say that proves Froch would win, but that's an over simplification of the situation. Froch in my opinion lost to Dirrell while DeGale beat Dirrell. Sure Dirrell wasn't the same fighter but that just proves it's not just as simple as making a direct comparison. Having said that I'd still favour Froch. Froch struggled with fast, mobile boxers and DeGale isn't the slickest mover. He has a wide stance and while he moves laterally is often in range and prefers to block shots on arms and shoulders rather than be elusive. Froch wouldn't have any trouble finding DeGale and with his constant work rate and good stamina I see him out working DeGale and perhaps even stopping a tiring DeGale late in the fight.
