Can Halling and Watt be fired?

Bring back Ian Darke, man.

 

Agreed, he was the man.

I also like the Channel 5 guy too.

Halling is appalling. Like having your Dad and his mate commentate, sadly.

 

I don't understand why Sky stick with them both.

Watt is a good pundit but poor commentator, I used to think that as far back as when he was on ITV.

Hailling is just awfull. Very limited knowledge of boxing in general.

 

Halling just repeats the same thing over and over again. Last night it was how Degale was in complete control. Even when shipping punishment, it was only because Degale chose to get hit, what a tube.

 

Sky boxing is set up as very much 'jobs for the boys' once you have your feet under the table that seems to be it.

Watt has had a great run as co commentator but now sounds stale but anyone would sound bad next to Nick Halling.He is actually getting worse the commentary for the Degale card repetitive and irritating.His commentary sounds rehe****d with soundbites and lacking in knowledge.

 

There are two good boxing commentators, Mike Costello and Ronald Macintosh. You don't need any more other than those two.

 

Boxing on Sky misses Ian Darke big time.

Tony Bellew will make an excellent co commentator when he hangs up the gloves. He reads a fight well and gets his point across better than most in that position.

 

I'm not a Brit, so I wonder about something;
Is it that besides the knowledgeable fans who clearly are fed up with it, the casual viewers like the enormously biased commentary which keeps them employed?
Bacause seriously, you don't need much knowledge about boxing to see what's really happening in the ring. When Watt goes on about their man landing beautiful quality pun-cheese, while in reality he's taking punishment against the ropes. :conf

 

Farrar is actually quite decent now. Then again he usually has 50/50 fights to commentate on.

Sky should use Andy Scott instead Halling now.

 

Sky Sports have no reason to keep either other than they are all very good friends behind the scenes and way from boxing. As a commentator and co commentator combo they are seriously awful.

Watt decides on what his scoring criteria is depending what the Matchroom fighter is doing, if the Matchroom fighter is throwing lots of shots (missing doesn't matter) then Watt scores because of "work rate" if the Matchroom fighter is being out worked then Watt scores on what he decides are "quality punches" in favour of the Matchroom fighter.
Watt is so far past it in my opinion it is shocking. He needs to retire from live fights and maybe they can let him pop up as a special studio guest now and again.

Halling, well this Richard says "world class" in nearly every fight, it doesn't matter if it's an area title or a novice fighting, I can almost be sure I'll hear "that was world class".
Halling must work for Matchroom, I am sure he scores fights and then has a little look on social media and then realises he is way off and starts to change his tune, starts back tracking, using the old "the judges might be reading this completely differently from us Jim" and he loves "there have been lots of close rounds that could've gone either way", even though his commentary throughout said fight has been completely bias with "world class" being mentioned in every round.

They both need new jobs, Sky Sports have red button options for lots of things, I am sure if you could have the red button option to turn those two off nobody would listen to them that's why Sky won't do a red button option because then they would have no reason to employ them.

 

Watt would still be okay for me along-side Ian Darke or Dave Farrar, but Nick Halling.....

 

It's a bit shocking that Channel 5 can get Bernstein over and Sky still insists on employing Watt.
