It's an awful division. Badou Jack and George Groves are on the top of the division. James DeGale goes life and death with Medina lol.

If you want people to take you seriously, you should learn the difference between "weak" and "week".

You dudes try to hard every deep & notable weight class is overrated to degree past & present

You want to nit pick go ahead

Fighters fight and the S6 had the best from 160 to 168 vying for the smw crown

Only 1 fighter was missing and once he stepped up to fight the true number 2 smw he was crushed

Just because kessler lost to calzaghe doesnt make him any less than any other good to great fighter that has lost to great fighters

Taylor was added because of his name not because he was considered top tier at 168

Ward: olympic gold medalist & excellent prospect

Dirrell: olympic bronze medalist & a very talented prospect

Abraham: best middle weight in the world & was basically ggg before ggg

Froch: wbc champ very strong fighter and will eventually become a first balled hall of famer

Kessler: the class of the division at the time only lost to the great calzaghe

Green, bika, johnson >>>>>>> taylor at that time but who cares they all got a shot

Nothing was & is overrated about the super 6 because there was nobody at 175 or 160 even 154 that wouldve faired well vs the eventual winner and the runner up

As of right now there is no clear number 1 but there is alot a talented fighters vying for the crown

Are they future 168 lb greats probably not but that doesnt make the weight class weak especially if the fights are competitive.

Bute has always been a really good fighter froch was his first loss and ain't no shame in losing to pascal at 175 and he still fought valiantly

168 isn't nearly as strong as it was several years back but its not bad either. There's no standout but a lot of guys at an even level.

I also don't think Bute is a shot fighter. He's clearly not at his peak but he has more left and is still a good fighter.

He put up a good fight in his last 2 but still lost to Jack(bad scoring aside) and DeGale. It would have looked worse on the division if Bute would have actually won those fights.

Bute is still a decent fighter. Its just that the loss to Froch severely tarnished his reputation as an elite fighter. I do agree with the OP though. The current era is pretty weak. Degale and Jack are both very beatable.

By the time the Super Six came along Kessler was already a broken man. He was inactive compared to a healthy fighters standards. Just look at the way he walks and runs. He hobbled around and looked as stiff as a board.

When you go into a guys backyard and get beaten to a pulp will mess your head up.

While I don't think Bute is old and shot, he clearly has his confidence back, however he isn't on the level he was before Froch, it has more to do with DeGale and Jack just not being that good, and SMW being a shell of what it was 5 years ago. Bute from 5 years ago would have soundly beaten both of them, he almost did now, and Froch would have decapitated them, he still probably could.

Ward and Froch would still clean out the division with ease

If Bute fought Ward instead of Froch at that time (like Ward promised) Bute's career would've been much better off!

Bute was a terrific technical fighter that over came a devastating defeat. He's highly respectable and all class.

The Froch fight in my eyes was very interesting the way all the variables played out. Froch on his ultimate ride or die high horse mood because he mentioned he would retire if he looses, so he really gave it his ALL in front of an electrifying home crowd and Bute in uncharted territory with some issues.

    It is what it is....
