Has Any Boxer had more Embarrassing Moments Than Amir Khan?

To take the most recent occasion as an example, I watched Jones Jr v. Maccarinelli in a busy bar. Not everyone there was a boxing fan, of course. Half the viewers fell into hysterics, one guy nearly falling off his stool, half looked concerned. The same was true on the boards here, in the RbR and elsewhere - people have different reactions to the calamities of others and different senses of humor. It is, as they say, a fact of life.

Audley Harrison was an excellent amateur and unlike Joshua truly deserved his gold medal. The overblown fanfare that came with his transition to professional set up a career of subsequent embarrassment and was a major factor in the BBC's decision to turn away from boxing as a broadcast sport. The BBC was one of the best boxing broadcasters in its time. He did have a mental block that kept him from fulfilling his potential, I agree, but that doesn't make events any less embarrassing or him any less a figure of fun for a certain portion of the public. You can say those people are assholes, sure, but without them every boxer earns less money. Hell, some even make a career out of awkward and embarrassing moments, in and out of the ring - and in many other walks of life - to maximize their earnings. Broner and Fury are examples of that, Mayweather is too to some extent.

 

This thread is what is wrong with boxing! A fighter moves up two weight classes to fight the best, takes a tremendous risk in doing so, gives the fans value for their money, happens to fall short and gets sh.it on. If anything, Khan should be celebrated for his bravery especially by drunk, obese so called boxing fans who never put on a pair of gloves.
Boxing, I'm sure, has the most despicable fans of any sport I know!

 

Hasim Rahman. He talked constant trash, only to be knocked completely out of the ring by Maskaev, developed a massive hematoma on his forehead in losing to Holyfield, got completely laid out in 2nd Lewis fight, the got his azz beat again by Maskaev, holding on to Maskaev's ankle after being knocked down, then TKOed.

 

Some random idiot in a bar, yeah. But no true fan of boxing would find it hilarious, even if they weren't a fan of his.

I liked Audley, and he made a mistake with some of the comments he made when he turned pro. He was already under a lot of pressure from the Olympics and the 10 fight deal with the BBC, but he really added to that in a silly way.

He had talent, but he needed to see a sports psychologist or be with a world class trainer. It was a shame how his career turned out. He had quite a lot going for him. The Haye fight was his worst when he just seemed to freeze.

He went up a huge amount in weight to face a top fighter for a world title, and was well ahead on the cards before getting clonked.

He can't frickin help he has a glass jaw, but he has the courage to take on a big puncher anyway.

He KHAN'T do it! But to be fair to Amir Khan he fought 3 of the most dangerous boxers today. Garcia, Canelo and Maidana. Fair enough he loss but that was not a surprise to me or to anybody of us.

 

It was embarrassing after the Prescott fight. Three KOs later, he doesn't care. People expected Khan to get KOd. Like most of Khan's fights, it was pretty tense because you're waiting to see if he gets caught and he adds to the tension by being busy. In that regard, I hope he continues to box, but he's not as good as he makes out. Having said that, he did take some decent punches and no one could have taken that overhand right.
