    A non fan GGG and Canelo debate

    Fans arent here to argue but just mention facts. I dont want to bring in other fighters and other debates but to stick to the subject of GGG and Canelo.

    I admire all boxers for what they do and how hard they work, and both fighters are very impressive.

    Heres how I am reading it from an outside view -

    When Canelo is asked if he will fight GGG, he tends to say something along the lines of putting the gloves on right now, which of course wouldnt happen, but doesnt directly answer about fighting GGG next IMO.

    GGG seems to have got some decent names on his resume but has made all of his wins look convincing enough for people to say they are mismatches or not good fights, which some probably arent but wins over Lemieux, Geale are fair wins.
    Canelo has had some more marquee names on his resume in Cotto, Mayweather etc, but GGG did appear as if he was after the Cotto fight also.

    The catchweight business. I am not a fan of catchweights and if a fighter holds a title at a certain weight then challengers I feel should be able to contest a title up to that limit.



    As I am reading it on the outside, I get the impression GGG wants the big MW fights. I dont think he wants to go up or down a division or feel he was in a hurry to, but think he wants to make his mark at MW which I cant see anything wrong with.

    I am not sure Canelo is as interested in GGG as I havent known of him answering directly about facing GGG.

    Canelo has fought above LMW in his last 5 fights.

    Without insults to anyone, how does everyone else see it?



    Full credit to Khan for going up in weight and facing Canelo at a weight that Canelo has been fighting at for a while

    Good and accurate objective ****ysis. It's clear what is going on and thankfully it doesnt look like Canelo is going to be allowed to get away with it any longer.

    Boxing is in real danger if promotors and fighters try to use the Mayweather / Pac model. All this bs about fearing a loss needs to stop. WHEN GGG beats Canelo both can still earn a fortune afterwards.

    Now now, stop the insults. It is not about supporting a particular fighter thread but more about facts and opinions.
    When was it he said this as he may have trouble cutting weight now he is deep in his 30s and do you think a MW title fight with most of the titles on the line should be below the limit?

    Im not a fan of catchweights at all. Lately there seems to be new weight divisions sort of forming between SLW and WW and between LMW and MW

    Every single time there is a debate on two fighters ducking, once the fight happens, if the fighter they are going for looses they still talk mess.

    This jul214 turd is on my ignore list also. Obviously I don't know what his post above says, but I'd bet money it's really really stupid. "Ignore" is a great forum feature.

    i think alvarez walked into a mess.

    martinez avoided the golovkin fight

    cotto avoided the golovkin fight

    alvarez only is a middleweight champion because the true best guy at the weight has been frozen from title contention

    he is staging welter weight and 154lb fights for the middleweight title at a catchweight its a total farce

    i see golovkin as only trying to get his title fight which he has more than earned and has had denied completely

    how anyone thinks this is ok is nuts

    I think GGG is going for the MW title record of Bhops.

    Like it or not, it will put him into the argument of one of the best MW's ever.

    Considering Canelo's BS demand of 155, and Oscar has been quoted at saying 90/10 split, GGG would be best served by refusing any of that and let it go to a purse bid where he would get a better deal than 90/10, and there is no catch weight nonsense.

    I have read here people want to just "see the best fight the best"--but then they leave out the next obvious part---"at their best".

    We can't know what draining GGG down to 155 would do to him. Since they both fight in the MW range, both are champs in the same division, make the fight at the MW range so neither fighter has to drain extra weight.

    I would rather see the fight with both fighters "at their best". Whether that is 155, 156, 157, etc--

    Its obvious they will fight. Canelo invited GGG into the ring. Canelo said in the post fight interview with Kellerman that GGG should fight him at 155 and do it for the fans not the abc belts.
