Fans don't even care about this fight compared to Canelo vs GOLOVKIN its a big big difference

    everyone wants canelo vs golovkin

everyone couldnt care less about ward vs kovalev

ward might be taking on his hardest fight and no one cares

the casuals don't even want this fight

The buzz will build when the fight is more eminent but, to be truthful, no one really cares about Golovkin v Alvarez other than hardcore boxing fans.

When the fights draws nearer there will be more buzz. If not there is something seriously wrong with this sport.

Maybe but since I don't live in Mexico, I can't tell. I haven't heard that much general buzz about either Golovkin or Alvarez in sports conversations in the media in the US. Alvarez may be the new ppv king but he is orders of magnitude less so than Pac or Mayweather.

Ward generates buzz when he prints P4P list and gives it to HBO to demand 2 mil $ per fight.
Some serious buzz coming from that printer.

Ward-Kovalev is a great fight, and an important one... but nobody in their right mind should expect it to do bigger than or comparable business to GGG-Canelo, which has been built up masterfully and features more popular names.

Canelo and GGG are both bigger draws right now than Kovalev and Ward. In the case of Canelo, by a whole lot. And casuals usually have a short memory. It was quite a long time ago since Ward really showed his skills by beating a top name.

Of course casuals are going to talk about that match more. From a money perspective, I think this fight would do better with casuals if Ward could beat a real quality named opponent again before the fight with Sergay. But unless Adonis wants to suddenly man up and interject himself, I don't see anyone with enough name credibility to amp this fight any more for casuals unfortunately. And I certainly don't want this to drag on while both guys are in their prime right now.

It's up to us true fans and the boxing media to inform everyone else how good this fight is.

It hurts that it doesn't look like HBO can afford Ward-Shabranskyy this summer, which would've helped. Heck, they're not even sure they can make it work to show Chilemba-Kovalev yet. And if they do, that's going to be a Monday night fight taking place in Russia.

Basically, everything they can do to NOT build the Ward-Kovalev fight properly, they're doing.

I am not on social media so you may be right. I would think that anyone who would talk about this fight on social media are more than just casuals. In the general sports media, this fight is hardly talked about at all. Alvarez appears in a Tecate commercial and Golovkin was in that Apple commercial during the Superbowl. Other than that, these guys have no general public exposure. I doubt the average sports fan know who either Golovkin or Alvarez are.

Who cares what the media thinks? Do people even watch sports center anymore? With the internet there is no need for it. I used to watch religiously and now haven't watched a full sports center in probably like 12 years.

I have multiple very casual fan buddies that have text me saying they are in for GGG Canelo if it happens.

I think Ward-Kovalev is THE biggest fight to be made in Boxing at this moment. GGG vs Canelo is guna be the one with alot of limelight around it but as far as im concerned i dont see it as an exciting or close fight, GGG has already faced more dangerous Middleweights than Canelo.

Fans are just waiting for Ward to make his next move. Kovalev has his fight in Russia. Ward needs a fights in the summer. After that they can meet in the fall.

The reason why people are buzzing about GGG/Canelo is because the fight could be on the verge of being made.
