Khan seems happy being knocked out!

Yes it was an audacious gamble and fair play to Khan for taking the challenge but to many people are acting like he was dominating Canelo.

Canelo had it in the bag from the first round, Canelo adapted...Khan as usual did not.

Khan is a good but very limited fighter who has been well managed throughout his career, he's not elite yet people talk as though he is.

DLH hypes him up because he knows damn well it would end in a highlight KO which it did.

I've watched the fight a couple of times and I'm not convinced Khan was 5-0/4-1 up on rounds. He threw a lot more jabs but Canelo ducked and weaved them. He landed a couple of times but it was never enough to hurt him.
The plan was to clearly jab and move from the outside but Khan doesn't seem to have the engine that he had.

Not sure where he goes from here or even if he truly wants to carry on. He's had such a long period of inactivity, you can't just fight once a year and get away with it at that level.

 

Could any Welterweight take that shot flush that moves up to 155 fighting a guy who was 180lbs on the night? If you listened to Virgil he was pleased Khan was preserving his tank after the 3rd to save it for the later stages. You must have missed his fights with Alexander and Collazo, his stamina was great, he was throwing combos all 12, he dropped COllazo twice in the 11th. His ring generalship has improved along with his foot movement and defense over all is better since the roach days. He was making great little steps to make Canelo miss in there and he frustrated him Canelos own words. The only problem with Khan is he has MASSIVE lapses in concentration and manages to always take SHOTS clean too many times. His Jab was also outstanding. He'll beat Garcia at 147 and he's improving the right ways just requires a lot more time because he has some deep fundamental flaws ingrained into him since the amatuer days, that takes time to expel.

 

A boxer can have nearly all the tools needed to be a great fighter, but it means nothing if they're prone to lapses in concentration. There was no shame in getting cleaned out by the punch itself, it was magnificent...but he put his chin on a platter for Canelo.

 

Its over for khan we cant keep putting it down to lapses in concentration.

The truth is hes just not very good. Hes a flashy fighter and thats about it.

Good fighters dont get sparked against garcia after 4 rounds. Prescott in the first. Canelo in the sixth. Struggle badly against algeri. Diaz. Put over for 13 seconds off limond. Plus struggle with a lot of other fighters.

He slows down against anyone half decent after about 3 rounds now. Cant keep many off him. Cant think for himself. His legs betray him when he gets hit on the chin. Has lapses in concentration. His chins not good.

But he can throw flashy fast combo,s in the first 3 or 4 rounds. How anyone can believe hed beat mayweather i dont know. I actually think floyd would stop him. Khans biggest problem is he just cant think for himself in a boxing ring. His athletisms took him further than he probably should have went. Virgils tried to hold his hand but its actually for me regressed him as an effective fighter. Hes a better all round fighter just not as effective as he was under roach.

Tbh i think khans a decent enough kid but it looks to me hes a bit soft. Dads all over him probably from a kid. Had everything done for him from the olympic team.

 

Had the massive fanbase big star from about 17. Hangers on that treat him like a god.

Compare that to guys like pacquoiu,s upbringing. Or a lot of boxing guys out there. They ve had to rely on themselves sometimes from an early age etc. Khan seem to like the s****om more than the boxing to me anyway. He works extremely hard in training by the looks of things but you get the feeling its more to keep himself important more than actually loving the boxing itself. Maybe a part of the problem.

 

I don't think he has any reason to be happy apart from his purse, if it was all about money then he may well be happy, if it was a serious career move then he shouldn't be happy.

I now think Khan taking the Canelo fight was a huge mistake. I thought it was a gamble like everybody else but it has turned out to be a seriously ill judged move.

Sure, Khan will fight for the WBC welterweight title but when?

He will need time to recover from Saturday, strip muscle off, rebuild mentally, probably want a confidence builder or two because surely after that kind of loss he ain't going straight into a world title fight.

That could be say 12 months so rankings change, other fighters will win and lose, in 12 months Spence Jr (ranked 6 in the WBC) could hold that WBC title.

I think it's a very dangerous road back for Khan now, you start to think the way he was lights out Saturday is the reason he looked to have no intention of fighting anybody with solid power at 147 and was almost begging for the big cash out fight with Mayweather for two years.

 

Khan's dad claimed he'd have got more money fighting Brook.

It backs up Hearn's argument that he didn't fight Brook because he'd have to retire from twitter.

 

It was just a money fight. Khan never truly believed he'd win. He gave it a go, and hoped he'd win, but a defeat was always the likely outcome (even to him). Yeah, he got badly knocked out, but he still got paid.

 

Exactly.

Khan never had any punch resistance to begin with, so how can you lose what you never had?

Said it before, Khan was in a win win situation.

 

Khan made more cash than any of his recent fights added, there is your happy Khan despite glass breakage.

 

He knew he would get knocked out. But obviously weighed up the fact he would get a massive payday with zero expectation to win the fight.
